Renowned for taking on technically demanding projects and providing support teams for AAA publishers, Abstraction does not shy away from a challenge and has delivered 200+ SKU’s across 60 games over the last 14 years. The company is also engaged with creative co-development and DLC projects and is developing an unannounced internal game based on an original IP.

Abstraction’s HQ is based close to Eindhoven, The Netherlands and has a multi-skilled and multi-national team of 80+ and is in the middle of executing a plan that will see the team grow by 30% over the next year.

The Talent We Are Looking For
As the Abstraction family grows, so does our need for an HR Manager to help us steer our team in the right direction.
We're looking for a new HR Manager that will be responsible for coordinating and developing all day-to-day activities related to the organization of our staff in coherence with our 4 core values: Go Beyond Boundaries, Excel, Be Kind and Grow. Those activities will include overseeing recruitment processes such as sourcing, interviewing, approving, and signing, as well as implementing systems for managing like staff benefits, payroll, and onboarding.
In your role at Abstraction, you'll be closing the gap between contractors and employees by amongst others overseeing our appraisal process, following our mentoring processes and policies, whilst at the same time optimizing them.

What Will You Be Doing At Abstraction
While overseeing various processes, you'll be developing (recruitment) strategies together with our CSO and the Recruitment Unit to better our onboarding processes. You will be assisting our Chief Staff Officer in bringing genuine employee satisfaction and dedication, as well as great productivity throughout the entire company. Below you'll find several keys aspects of your role exists out of.
PEOPLE FIRST
- Handle employee relations issues
- Ensuring that staff members are well treated, supported, and motivated
- Investigate employee issues and conflicts and brings them to resolution
- Monitor and adjust the compensation/reward strategy for all employees based on market research and pay surveys; keep the strategy up to date in line with the individual and departmental performance on the main KPIs
TRAINING AND GROWTH
- Develop training materials and performance management programs to ensure employees understand their job responsibilities
- Taking ownership of our learning and development platform and the employee relations
- Ensuring an efficient performance management model that aligns with the needs of the company
GLOBAL
- Work closely with the CSO & Recruitment Manager to develop and implement high-quality HR strategies
- Plan, budget and forecast HR needs and applications
- Maintain awareness of company plans and the potential impact of those plans on all HR functionality
- Assisting CSO in creating of company guidelines, policies, and procedures (incl. international labor law)
- Ensure proper communication between departments regarding company life and staff events/information
- Help to define the staff rights to access company data, files & information depending on the functions
ADMINISTRATION
- Solve directly or indirectly all administrative problems of each staff members
- Manage the staffing process, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding
- Ensure job descriptions are up to date and compliant with all local, state and federal regulations
- Develop and maintain up to date the Abstraction Wiki
- When informed, the HR manager will review impending company issues that will have a direct impact on the HR and provide CSO with an assessment of the HR impact, determine all information required for a complete business case
DATA-DRIVEN
- Gathering feedback and data from our employees to determine which strategies are the most adequate
- Creating metrics and analysis to showcase the main KPIs related to HR
- Ensuring everyone is supported and has what they need to achieve their goals as well as organizing and coordinating different HR projects
CHECK THE LAW
- Responsible for implementation of all assignment agreements, hiring of international and national employees and handling expatriate issues
- Provides day-to-day direction in all aspects of international human resources
- Ensure the organization’s compliance with local, state and federal regulations
- Assists with the implementation of human resource programs for all foreign entities with a concentration on host-country labor law and legal issues
- You need to have a good understanding of the Dutch language and with that should be able to navigate through matters such as Dutch labor law and communication with local lawyers
MANAGE A TEAM
- To implement and maintain an open-door policy at Abstraction (both digitally and at the office), it’s important for us that you can work on-site and/or hybrid
- Build a strong functional HR team through effective recruiting, training, coaching, team building
- Lead the HR team in all day-to-day activities to support the HR, payroll, and other interrelated functions

- Experience and/or a network within the games industry are highly appreciated
- At least 5 years of human resource manager experience.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (human resources)
- 7 or more years of relevant experience or the combination of education and experience that enables performance in all aspects of the position
