The HR generalist is an integral part of the company’s local management team and is responsible for supporting the organization in all HR-related matters that contribute to the success of the company.
He/she is expected to identify HR needs and priorities and recommend appropriate people management solutions that support our business aims. The HR generalist assesses and anticipates HR-related needs proactively, ensures that internal HR policies/processes/documents are compliant with local law & regulations and is responsible for all aspects of Human Resource Management, including the execution of the HR administration, within the Netherlands branch.
This position reports directly to the General Manager with a dotted line to HR in the US.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- HR administration: Creating and maintaining employee staff files for their full life cycle from entry to exit, including contract management, preparation of correspondence etc. Perform HR administration including compensation and benefits, manage HaS procedures, mandatory illness procedures and monitoring thereof.
- Payroll: Prepare data for the outsourced payroll provider ensuring the payroll is processed timely and accurate. Ensure payroll data is provided on a monthly basis to Finance.
- Recruitment and Deployment: Advise management on position content, reporting structure and compensation/benefits. Manage job openings, online and social media recruiting efforts, select candidates and participate in interviews as well as draft and extend job offers. Manage exit process.
- Employment: Manage onboarding process from employment contract setup to employee introduction program.
- Policies and Procedures: Review existing and develop, recommend and implement (new) HR policies and procedures based on labor law requirements and ensuring compliance with the law.
- Planning and Reporting: Participate in the budget and forecasting and supporting with monthly reporting and budget/forecast updates.
- Coaching/Training: Work closely with all managers, providing expert guidance, coaching and support on the full range of HR activities to ensure a consistent approach to people management.
- Employee relations: Provide advice and guidance on individual employee relation cases, ensuring that they are well managed and meet the company requirements and labor law requirements and practices.
- Performance: Manage performance appraisals and metrics process and related bonus programs, ensuring consistency and appropriate follow-up and development.
- Monitor HR trends in the company and industry and provide feedback and action plans to maintain and develop the company culture.
- Liaise and manage relationships with external providers for recruitment, insurances, benefits, health and other HR-related issues. Manage the HR/Office Admin resource.
Key Qualifications:
- Approximately 4 years’ experience in a similar role and in-depth knowledge of the Dutch and relevant HR processes, rules and regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Dutch as a must.
- Experience in a multi-language and multi-cultural environment is a pre.

General Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources
- Cooperative, collaborative work style – teamwork approach.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently in a high-pressure environment and excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills. Detail-oriented with excellent follow-through skills.
- Competent knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
Location and working hours
- The HR generalist is a full-time hybrid position (40 hours per week), working from home and in our Amsterdam office.
