HR Director, Publishing

Our Publishing team is in West London and is currently home to approximately 180 staff with departments including Commercial Publishing through Sales, Marketing and PR, Business Development, Business and Product Planning, Online Technology and various support functions including HR, Legal and Finance.
The HR Director, Publishing will lead a team of 4 dedicated staff with the goal of delivering a highly engaging, talent focused and proactive HR and recruitment service with full employee lifecycle support to the Publishing group, creating innovative experiences for our staff that attract, engage, retain and develop talent. The Publishing HR team sits and works closely with the Central Services and studio operations HR team, creating a dynamic and energetic group. The successful candidate will have the benefit of collaborating with a wider internal network of HR colleagues – several of our game development studios have in-built HR functions. This creates an exciting opportunity for a driven, energetic and ambitious HR practitioner who wants to make a quantifiable and lasting difference in this innovative environment. Key Responsibilities
- Full ownership of HR and Recruitment function for SEGA Europe’s Publishing group
- Lead, coach and motivate the Publishing HR team of 4
- Take ownership for all Publishing HR matters across all employee lifecycle areas including recruitment, talent, employer branding, performance management, learning and development, employee relations, CSR, ED&I, and compensation
- Coach and advise SEGA’s leadership and management teams in Employment Relations and Policy areas
- Provide guidance to organisational and team challenges in a commercial and compliant manner
- Maximise our employer brand through all of our internal and external touch points with the goal of SEGA Publishing being a leading employer of choice
- Leverage central technology platforms to support key HR areas through existing systems that support recruitment, performance management, learning & development, whistleblowing/employee feedback and employee engagement in addition to a core HRIS, payroll and benefits
- Drive the company’s corporate mission, goals, representing our values and our employer brand
- Lead and project manage key HR projects and change initiatives
- Present to internal and external stakeholders as and when required, in order to help build a leading employment brand in diverse talent pools so to establish and nurture a set of targeted ‘strategic relationships’ in this area
- Establish a more data-driven approach to informing people-based decisions and our evolution as a business. Helping to identify, collect and analyse the people metrics that will help manage the business
- Collaborate with the central HR team who are tasked with studio support and central governance for the SOE business
- Present to the Chief People Officer and Senior Management team on key Publishing HR initiatives
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience running, growing and leading an HR department for an Entertainment/technology company
- CIPD Accreditation
- Educated to Post Graduate level or equivalent (preferably an MA or PgDipp Level 7 in HRM
- Extensive senior generalist HR experience as a minimum requirement
- In-depth knowledge of current UK Employment Legislation
- Demonstrable experience of managing numerous complex HR workflows and working with senior stakeholders to navigate challenging situations
- Ability and demonstrable experience in communicating, influencing and advising at all levels of the organisation
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities and judgment; ability to make sound decisions independently
- Exceptional attention to detail, track record of execution/delivery with high quality.
