Job Title: Graphic Designer
Job Summary: The Graphic Designer/Illustrator Designer will create digital sketch compositions and fully illustrate for a line of children’s books. Designer is expected to take static pre-rendered character illustrations and create original scenes and environments for them to interact in without manipulating the original asset. Creative problem solving, flexibility, and being able to work within strict brand guidelines is a must. In addition to illustration skills, this role will also require the designer to place their illustrations in layout software and include text and typographical elements. The Designer will be under the guidance of the Creative Services Design Manager and Creative Director, in accordance with Pokémon’s quality standards and Brand guidelines, as well as production and manufacturing standards and processes.

What you’ll do
- Interpret the author’s book map and text into visual scenes with interactive vignettes.
- Efficiently sketch out first round compositions and offer revisions and design solutions if needed.
- Produce high quality digital illustrations for books that are on-brand and would delight customers.
- Work on and manage multiple spreads in various stages of approval through the project.
- Be responsible for keeping up with weekly task expectations and the overall project schedule.
- Participate in meetings, discussions, and presentations as part of the development process from initial concepts to final design.
- Work in collaboration with a team of stakeholders are other designers.
- Stay up to date with ongoing developments in design applications and new print/media trends and techniques in an effort to bring consistent innovation to designs and the Pokémon brand.
What you’ll bring
- Three (3) to four (4) years of experience with design utilizing computer software.
- Bachelors degree required.
- Expert proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite on Mac OS.
- Proven experience with design for print, including using print techniques such as foil, spot varnishes, embossing, and custom die cuts.
- Knowledge of print technology and pre-press processes is a plus.
- Ability to navigate the following applications or platforms is a plus: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Esko Webcenter, or Esko Studio.
