Creative Arts is an award winning centralised, internal creative agency within PlayStation Studios. We endeavour to build a working environment where our people flourish and create their best work. Structured around eight core disciplines; Brand Design, UI/UX, Motion, Video, Film, Sound, Music and Programming, we deliver projects in collaboration with our game development and marketing/PR teams.
Role Overview:
PlayStation Studios is looking for a highly creative, process driven Graphic Design Lead | Design Director to join its Creative Arts Group. The successful candidate will take full ownership of multiple projects from brief through to delivery. The individual should be able to partner with clients, distil briefs and form creatives that inspire. Being able to motivate, mentor and direct the Graphic Design team and also contribute to a project with their own concept driven ideas and boundary-smashing designs. Sitting under the Creative Director in a small but agile Graphic Design team, the Graphic Design Lead | Design Director will play an integral role in creating bold, beautiful and functional identities for tomorrow’s best games.
What you’ll be doing:
- Direction and hands on design of creative projects. From distilling a client brief through to ideation, execution and delivery, either solely or leading a creative team of Designers.
- Generate ideas, communicate these effectively with the team, execute on those ideas and present them to stakeholders.
- Mentor other members of the team and disseminate technical design skills.
- Collaborate with other creative teams both within the Creative Arts team and the wider business.
- Strategise with the Creative Director and other senior team members to help meet business objectives.
- Consider the long-term strategy of the game identities we create.
- Identify opportunities and pursue prospective clients with the aid of the Client Relations team.
- Run effective Brand Strategy Workshops with Game teams
- Evaluate business data and use it to help inform creative design.
What we are looking for:
- Passionate about driving projects forwards by inspiring and motivating team
- High level of proficiency, time keeping and organisational skills, and the ability to work independently
- An appetite for learning new tools and practices.
- Detailed research, creative thinking and idea generation skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate ideas within a team environment and to clients
- Ability to problem-solve complex project briefs/creatives and consider various routes to ensure delivery
- Exceptional eye for detail, layout and typography
- Up to date with design trends both within and outside the games industry
- Excellent presentation and persuasion skills
- Passionate about the work we do, always seeking to improve a project
- Resilient and able to work well under pressure
Required:
- Minimum of 8 years industry experience including 3-5 years as Senior Designer or 1-2 years as Design Director in an agency/in-house team
- Education: BA Hons Graphic Design or equivalent education in a related field.
- Highly skilled in Adobe CC applications: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop
