Graduate Level Designer - Warhammer: Age of Sigmar

We have a modern spacious studio located on the Cambridge Science Park in the heart of the Cambridge tech hub. For those who wish to relocate to the Cambridge area and work either entirely in the studio or flexibly between the studio and home, we can provide generous financial and practical support to facilitate your move. We are also able to offer remote working for those who would prefer to work almost exclusively from home or who are unable to relocate. Purpose of the Role
We are looking for a graduate level designer to work on our real time strategy game, based on Games Workshop’s Age of Sigmar universe.
Working under the direction of the senior design team, you’ll learn how to take levels from initial layout to final release, ensuring that all narrative and gameplay goals are met, on schedule and to the best possible quality. In addition, you’ll also help out with a variety of other design tasks as needed, including testing out game mechanics, writing supporting documentation and aiding in balancing feedback sessions.
Responsibilities
- Design, script and implement levels using our proprietary tools and engine.
- Collaborate with the art team to achieve visual excellence without compromising gameplay.
- Playtesting and balancing to ensure high levels of quality
- Clear and concise documentation.
About you
- Essential:
- Display a passion for video games creation and level design in particular.
- Experience of creating levels using current industry standard tools or equivalent proprietary software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to take feedback and criticism, and understanding how to interpret that into constructive outcomes.
- Good at coping with deadlines, able to make clear and constructive decisions in a timely manner, and remain positive whilst under pressure.
- Ability to view games from both player and developer perspectives.
- Desirable:
- Familiarity with scripting languages or visual scripting tools (e.g. Lua, Blueprint visual scripting)
- Experience adjusting existing systems to refine and balance gameplay
- Knowledge of multiplayer and online gaming and culture
- Passion for real time strategy games and storytelling
