Frontier is looking for a Graduate Data Engineer to join our Data Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with our team on the cutting edge of data analytics, as we look to further develop the application of data engineering and data science expertise within our growing studio. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding, passion and curiosity for relationships and correlations and the insights that can be gained from data. You'll be working with all of Frontier's games and you'll have access to an entire galaxy's worth of data, and the opportunity to process and analyse this to help improve the gaming experience for all our players.
Responsibilities
- Managing data streams, and combining data from multiple sources/technologies
- Working with teams across the company to identify and prioritise data requests and requirements
- Analysing data to identify correlations, trends, groups and outliers.
- Monitoring data processing activities to identify and resolve issues
- Getting the right data in the right format in the right place for the right people at the right time
Qualifications & Experience
- Essential:
- Experience with databases and performing queries
- Experience with the Linux command line
- Knowledge of scripting languages, preferably Python, PHP or Ruby
- Preferably degree qualified in a relevant discipline e.g. Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or Engineering
- Desirable:
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
- Experience with git or other version control software
- Knowledge of Docker containers and their use
- Experience with Data visualisation tools
- Experience with AWS or other cloud providers
- Experience with Elasticsearch / OpenSearch
About You
- Enthusiastic and curious about data and the insights that can be gained from it
- An interest in and understanding of video games would be advantageous but is not essential
- Ability to explain complex data concepts to less technical people with clarity and influence
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of internal stakeholders such as Marketing, Developers, QA and Customer Support
