Job Summary
This role requires an experienced professional with a strong knowledge of internationalization and localization processes in complex scenarios. The Loc Engineering Manager will be working closely with the Local Studios as well as with the Global Production to ensure the maximum quality and efficiency in the processes. Passion for innovation, consultative skills and a can-do attitude are needed for this position.
Key Responsibilities and Activities
The main responsibilities are:
- Lead and define localization processes and infrastructure
- Actively engage with external clients, cross functional teams, internal studios, PMs and to design and deliver scalable, secure and reliable solutions
- Identify gaps or inefficiencies in tools and processes within and between teams and drive improvement efforts
- Develop and manage automated processes to minimize low value/repetitive tasks
- Oversee prioritization, creation, and maintenance of automation projects developed by the team
- Lead, design and implement governance best practices
- Ensure health and availability of translation platforms and developed services deployed across multiple regions
- Lead and manage a team of talented localization engineers in a fast-paced, international and demanding environment
- Mentor, guide and facilitate career development of individuals in the team
- Produce activity and performance reports for SLD
Requirements
• Bachelor's and/or Master's degree, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of relevant localization industry experience
• Experience in directly leading a team of engineers
• Deep understanding of localization and translation systems with ability to think across layers of the stack. Hands-on experience working in Translation Management Systems (TMS), with knowledge of how to automate project workflows
• Technical understanding of software development methodologies
• Strong organizational and coordination skills to get things done in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including relationship building and ability to stay focused under pressure
• Ability to articulate ideas and solutions to technical and non-technical audiences. Comfortable speaking to all levels of leadership, and able to clearly convey thoughts and ideas to target audiences.
• Experience managing medium to large-scale projects and sometimes, vendor relationships
• Self-motivated and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities
• Passion for process and tools innovation
• Experience with source code management, code review, and issue tracking systems
• Proven experience working with technologies like Translation Management Systems (TMS), Python, C#, Regex, HTML, CSS, Javascript, i18n libraries, ICU, Unicode
