GLOBAL COMMUNITY LEAD – NBA 2K
Who We Are:
NBA 2K is the number one sports video game franchise in North America, number two worldwide, and top three selling game overall. To continue to engage our gamers and grow our player base, we are looking for an experienced global community lead to spearhead this function in our Marketing Department.
What We Need:
We are looking for our community's biggest champion and advocate that will be the conduit between the NBA 2K player community, developers, and publishing team. This person will architect and execute the global community management strategy that’s rooted in a multi-discipline approach. This person needs to be part community manager expert, part social media pro, part fluent in communications, and part project manager. Aka we need someone who’s an expert in managing a community from all angles. We need someone who is both a visionary and a flawless executor. This person must be creative and have the ability to conceptualize and see plans through execution. They must be strategic in nature and understand the difference between true strategy vs. tactical executions. The person in this role must know how to facilitate cross-functional collaborations and develop processes to ensure seamless internal and external communications. They must understand how social media works holistically in order to develop a community strategy that complements our NBA 2K social ecosystem and thoughtfully expands it. This person must be able to ideate engaging social content and events that truly engages our current community and works to grow it. They must understand analytics, have experience with social listening, and know how to use data to make informed decisions. This person must have intimate knowledge of the NBA 2K brand and in-game experience.
What You Will Do:
- Define and lead the global community management strategy in collaboration with key stakeholders
- Define, facilitate, and execute internal plus external communication processes between the NBA 2K community, Developers, Publishers, and other cross-functional teams
- Create and execute both internal escalation processes and external communication best practices
- Enhance and create policies and standards to facilitate a positive player experience
- Collaborate with the global social media lead to define the community driven handle, channel, and voice strategies that are ultimately informed by the holistic social strategy
- Lead direct to player social media communications that promote one-way and two-way dialogue
- Collaborate with social content leads to conceptualize and integrate community driven content into the social calendar and cadence
- Collaborate with our influencer and marketing teams to activate both NBA 2K influencers and everyday gamers IRL and online
- Conceptualize and execute community-facing events
- Utilize social listening tools to compile weekly reports, inform decision making, and make strategic adjustments

Someone with a proven track record of building and executing a multi-discipline and global community management strategy. This person must have vision and know how to execute. They must be always on, passionate, and truly energized by this role. This person must have a comprehensive understanding of NBA 2K and be a legitimate player and fan of the franchise. They must be empathetic, patient, a true listener, and have a moral compass. This person must pay extreme attention to detail, is thorough, and quality oriented. They must be able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while still maintaining quality of work, operational efficiencies, and organization. Adaptability and flexibility must be a second language. This person should be independent and proactive, but also collaborative. They should be creative, experimental, and always ideating ways to enhance our community efforts. They must always think about the big picture to ensure everything we do has purpose and is aligned with the overall global marketing strategy. This person must have a healthy balance of confidence and humility. They must have the hunger to learn more.
- 5+ years of community management lead experience ideally within the sports video game space
- North American and global community management experience
- A strategist by nature and a true visionaries x executor
- Experience with creating cross-functional processes and project management skills
- Knows how to use all social media platforms, their functions, and understands the specific nuances within each platform
- Fundamental knowledge of holistic social strategy development
- Experience with conceptualizing ideas and seeing them through to execution
- Must possess these intangibles: Empathetic, listens first, detail oriented, can see plans through from start to finish, can combine quality with agility, can manage competing priorities, is efficient, organized, proactive, independent, collaborative, diplomatic, an excellent communicator, and is hungry to learn
