ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Generalist Engineer is responsible for building great code. As an Engineer at Blind Squirrel Games, you will work as part of a small team to solve tough technical challenges in a high energy environment with experienced industry leaders and a highly collaborative team. You will design, implement, and test as part of the development team.

This is a full-time hybrid position available to Auckland, New Zealand residents only to work based out of our Auckland studio at least two days a week with the option to work remotely for the remainder of the week.

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE, YOU MUST BE ELIGIBLE TO WORK AND ALREADY RESIDE IN NEW ZEALAND.

The annual salary being considered for this role is $57,900 - $86,900 NZD.

ENGINEERS AT BSG…

You've familiarized yourself with the ins-and-outs of game development through professional and/or independent work and are confident in your understanding of the game engineer pipeline. You have a solid programming skillset but are ready to challenge yourself by starting to take on more responsibilities and larger projects within your specialization. You may have worn a couple of different hats during your early years in the industry, but you've narrowed down your focus and are fixed on harnessing what you've learned and what you will learn to launch your career as an engineer.

You are collaborative, open-minded, and have an overall pleasant disposition. You can take direction and feedback, are not afraid to ask questions, and understand the value of autonomous work.

Responsibilities
  1. Create high-performance, robust, maintainable code in a cross-platform environment
  2. Evaluate existing technology architectures
  3. Extend existing systems to meet long-term needs of ongoing development
  4. Work with external development partners
  5. Adhere to team coding standards and practice
  6. Required to work independently and report to a manager
  7. Other duties may be assigned to accomplish company or department objectives
  8. Other relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned to help complete company or department objectives
