Working on a worldwide basis, we provide a range of linguistic, testing, quality control and customer support services to Video Game Developers and Publishers alike.
This role is part of a multilingual team responsible for translating games for a world-leading mobile games publisher into 16+ languages. The successful candidate will be at the forefront of content management for the English version of games played by millions of players worldwide. The candidate will take ownership of the source review process for all requests received, ensuring that the content is free of linguistic errors and meets high standards for translation. For marketing and video requests, the candidate will assist in creating captions and ensure they are ready for translation. While working with the localization team, you will get the opportunity to explain the source to non-native speaks helping them understand the context, and act as a content expert that they can rely on.
We are offering a 12-month FTC , with the possibility of renewal based on performance and other factors.
Duties and Responsibilities
Content insight
- Review the English source in all translation requests for references to western audiences.
- Give feedback to Game Leads on English source content.
- Curate detailed documentation for linguists, providing context to any western references.
- Gather subject references from the internet to provide to the linguists if available (i.e. blogs, videos, definitions).
- Communicate with the client on references that need additional context.
- Transcribe Marketing Videos, following strict subtitling guidelines, and preparing them for translation.
Source proof-reading
- Review all English source requests to ensure their linguistic accuracy across multiple departments (Player Support, Game Content, and Marketing).
- Communicate with the client regularly on discrepancies found in the source text.
Quality Assurance
- Verify linguistic accuracy of the text in all tested products and check for typographical, grammatical and punctuation errors.
- Verify the correct implementation of the English text, ensuring it is all correctly displayed.
- Ensure that the text is consistent and only correct approved terminology is used.
- Assess cultural appropriateness and check politically sensitive content.
- Identify, isolate, and document bugs clearly and concisely in a bug database.
- Verify that bugs have been fixed and implemented correctly.
- Run test cases and checklists.
Requirements
- Native level English speaker.
- Knowledge of Localization process best practice.
- Educational qualification in linguistics or related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Deep knowledge of pop culture from 80s onwards is essential.
- A strong knowledge of current events from western countries focusing on American and European pop-culture.
- Ability to work within tight deadlines and multitask in a busy environment.
- Strong observational skills, analytical and very detail oriented.
- Strong interpersonal skills and good team player.
- Passionate about Games, all genres & platforms.
- Experience with subtitling’s best practices a plus.
- Knowledge of Localization tools (CAT tools, CMS etc) a plus.
