What We Need:
Our Foothill Ranch, CA studio is seeking a specialized Senior Gameplay Designer to join our development efforts on an exciting new open world driving game! Within this role, you will be focused on creating intuitive and meaningful gameplay systems and mechanics, that establish and expand the core game loop. You will work with engineers, artists, and other designers to conceptualize, prototype, and implement innovative gameplay that will form the backbone of our new game.
What You Will Do:
- Own the lifecycle of your ideas and areas: design, implement, debug, and balance your mechanics from concept through to release
- Be well rounded and create new and immersive systems across areas such as combat, locomotion, game modes, player engagement, and progression
- Collaborate with other developers to maximize use of existing tools and technology
- Analyze, validate, and incorporate feedback from the team, as well as from external user testing, as needed
Who We Think Will Be A Great Fit:
- 5+ years of experience within the video game industry
- Shipped at least 1 AAA game within a Game Designer role
- Experience in gameplay and system design for console or PC games.
- Strong understanding of development processes, workflows, and tools
- Experience working in-engine, either prototyping or implementing your ideas
- Comfortable with a development environment that is iteration and playtest-driven
- Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and enhancement within the user experience
- Solid communication, presentation, and documentation skills
- Self-motivated and proactive
Pluses:
- Experience with programming, scripting languages, or visual scripting tools (i.e. Blueprints)
- Experience with Unreal Engine 4
