YOUR DAILY ADVENTURE
As a Gameplay Programming Intern, you will develop a strong understanding of the game development process, good programming skills, and the ability to work closely with designers and artists to recognize the shared vision and see it through from concept to completion. You may be involved with gameplay, user interface, rendering, engine or tool pipeline programming, depending on the applicant’s areas of expertise and the development team’s needs. A passion for games and programming is necessary for success.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Carry out regular functional check-ins, to progressively integrate development into the shared code base;
- Collaborate with game designers/level designers/animators so as to discuss the constraints and establish the technical possibilities of the various gameplay functions;
- Choose the appropriate data structures and algorithms for the task at hand;
- Test work after each stage to ensure stability;
- Demonstrate understanding of the basics of load and game feature testing and write test code;
- Include comments in the code and document implemented features;
- Test other connected features that could be impacted by the produced feature;
- Use a coding style that is efficient and easy to read;
- Debug own code and bugs of basic complexity in the rest of the engine.
- Test work after each stage to ensure stability;
- Ensure that code changes are fully tested (multi-player, all platforms, all game modes and middleware, where applicable);
- Test other connected features that could be impacted by the produced feature.
Qualifications
WHAT YOU BRING
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Game Programming or a similar field;
- Game development experience is a plus;
- Strong mathematics background (geometry, linear algebra, and probability) is a plus;
- Passion for gaming and familiarity with Ubisoft games is a big plus;
- Experience with object-oriented programming languages:
- Knowledge in C++ is a plus; (If you are unfamiliar with C++, you will be expected to learn it on the job).
