Media Molecule is a video game development studio based in Guildford in the UK, and a proud member of the PlayStation Worldwide Studios. We are the creators of the multi-award winning games LittleBigPlanet, LittleBigPlanet 2, Tearaway, Tearaway Unfolded and we're currently building the next generation of Play, Create and Share for PlayStation 4: Dreams.

Description:
Location: Our studio in Guildford or remote (able to work within the same timezone as the UK via video conferencing due to the need for close real-time collaboration).
Role: This is a critical role at the heart of our game development process. You will work closely with the Gameplay Director, designers and production to use your technical and creative skills to make exciting moments for players. This may involve work related to the game controls, character movement, character animation, procedural animation, multiplayer, physics integration, cameras, audio and player progression. The ideal candidate would have experience in a few of these areas and an interest in developing a broader skill-set as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Design team to go from prototyping of new gameplay features through to iteration and delivery.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to understand other teams requirements, present your work and foster gameplay opportunities.
- Work within technical constraints to meet performance and quality goals.
- Collaborate with fellow programmers and Quality Assurance to create a bug-free experience and a maintainable codebase.
Experience required:
- The ability to critically evaluate the quality of the on-screen experience.
- Good command of C++ programming, including refactoring, optimization, debugging and testing.
- Very comfortable with 3D mathematics and its use in gameplay systems.
- An interest in game design, and an understanding of what makes responsive and intuitive game mechanics.
- Ability to analyze unfamiliar code of a reasonable complexity to understand, extend and refactor an existing module.
- Knowledge of common algorithms, data structures and patterns, and their application.
- An openness to learn and ability to adapt to change.
- Good communication skills and ability & desire to work as a team player.
- Ability to work autonomously and self-organize.
Advantageous:
- Experience with User Generated Content.
- Prior console development experience.
- Experience working on a multiplayer title.
- Good working knowledge of the PlayStation development hardware and its tools.
- Experience with animation pipelines.
