Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a talented and passionate Gameplay/Features UI Software Engineer to create compelling UI experiences and systems for an unannounced AAA PC/Console project. As a Software Engineer focused on UI, you will champion Blizzard’s core value of “Gameplay First” as you collaborate with a small team of designers, engineers, and artists to create robust UI experiences both for gameplay and game-supporting experiences.
The ideal candidate will have experience working on UI features in modern 1st/3rd person AAA titles. By blending your mastery of programming with a critical eye for UI design, you will help architect and implement epic user experiences. Our incubation teams are fast paced and mission critical. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with designers, artists, and other engineers to design, prototype, and implement polished user interface experiences.
- Build and improve existing UI systems to support new gameplay and game-supporting systems.
- Integration and exposure of the social and online services provided by the Battle.net platform.
- Function as part of a fast-paced team collaborating with other engineers, artists, producers, and designers to achieve a unified vision for our project.
- Perform research to acquire new knowledge necessary to perform assigned tasks and maintain a process of technological evolution.
- Champion Blizzard Entertainment’s core values, especially "Gameplay First."
Requirements
- Significant user interface system and design contributions to at least one previously shipped AAA title.
- Solid C++ programming skills.
- Understanding of common user interface concepts like layout, text, event-driven programming, and control widgets.
- Experience working with localization/internationalization systems and dealing with related issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively with artists, designers, and other engineers.
- Minimum of three years of experience delivering game-based production-level code in a professional environment.
- Self-motivated and willing to pitch in on many areas of game development.
Pluses
- Experience with visual scripting languages and UI authoring tools such as those found in Unity or Unreal.
- Console development experience.
- Familiarity with Blizzard games.
