IllFonic is looking for a Gameplay Engineer to join the team. As an Engineer, you work in large code based engines like Unreal Engine. The role requires developing gameplay features for multiple projects and regularly play testing. This position requires mastery with C++, as well as proficiency with Unreal Engine. Additionally, your ability to take on any task that is presented to you is hugely beneficial to the company. About the Company
Founded in 2007, IllFonic is an independent video game developer and publisher with studios in Lakewood, Colorado and Tacoma, Washington. Our staff is composed of video game, music, and technology veterans redefining how indie and middle-market games are made and marketed. Current and past titles / collaborations include Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, Arcadegeddon, Predator: Hunting Grounds, Friday the 13th: The Game, Dead Alliance, Star Citizen, Evolve, Armored Warfare, and Nexuiz.
Responsibilities
- Debug gameplay/software issues that may arise
- Perform profiling and develop optimization habits
- Implement designed gameplay features
- Fine tuning gameplay elements to bring joy to those who play our games
- Write technical docs on proposed systems
- Implementing or extending engine features
- Merge engine changes
- Take the initiative to identify, prioritize, call-out, and suggest solutions to problems both big and small
- Regularly playtest builds and provide professional feedback to the team on how to improve our games
- Share your thoughts about how to make the company a better place to work, improve the creative process, and help deliver better games
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional experience and at least 1 shipped title
- Experience with source control
- Write fluent C++ code
- Strong Vector Math
- Proficiency with JIRA ticketing system
- Proficiency with following a Technical Design Document to implement a system
- Strict use of code names and complete confidentiality of project information for as long as it’s required
Bonus
- Experience with multi-threaded programming
- Experience working on multiplayer games
