Final Strike Games is looking for a Gameplay Engineer II to join our studio as a member of a small embedded team of engineers and designers collaborating directly with Epic Games to create the latest and greatest weapons and gameplay items for the massively successful Fortnite franchise. Experience building replicated gameplay features such as weapons, items and abilities will be necessary to thrive in this role. You will be leveraging your collaboration skills to rapidly iterate with design on gameplay features, while applying your problem-solving abilities to achieve best-in-class levels of polish and robustness.
Your team will be working directly with Epic engineers to build bespoke features for Fortnite seasonal content, with opportunities to increase your ownership and autonomy over design and implementation over time. Team members are expected to lead with curiosity and to help cultivate a trusting and collaborative environment with your fellow engineers and development partners.
This is a remarkable opportunity to build shipping content for one of the most iconic game franchises in history, producing the weapons and items that lend Fortnite its unique identity!
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Work collaboratively with both FSG and Epic designers and engineers to produce best-in-class weapons, gameplay items, and abilities
- Self-manage time and responsibilities when given prioritized goals and objectives
- Actively participate in playtests and help drive solutions for any encountered problems
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3+ years of gameplay engineering experience, preferably in multiplayer games
- Strong programming skills in C/C++
- Experience building weapons and gameplay abilities with Unreal Engine or another AAA game engine
Nice to have
- 1+ shipped titles as an engineer
- Experience building features with UE’s Gameplay Ability System (GAS)
- Understand and experience with Unreal's networking systems
