We're seeking an experienced Gameplay Designer for the development of a new unannounced title! If you love collaborating with talented developers to create generationally defining games, join us as we embark on a new journey.
A Gameplay Designer must possess the ability to effectively collaborate with design, animation and engineering to creatively solve challenging technical problems. The ideal candidate is an expert in either combat or systems design and strategically leverages their prototyping skills to enhance their design process.
Responsibilities
- Understand, interpret and execute on creative direction, in alignment with project goals
- Create clear and concise documentation in order to effectively communicate the intended design with the project Leads and Directors
- Design, prototype, and implement global and/or combat gameplay systems
- Utilize both text and visual based scripting systems (such as state machines and behavior trees) to directly implement game mechanics and systems in-engine
- Use your deep knowledge of combat and/or player mechanics to create specific in-game experiences that meet high-level project goals
- Maintain a studio environment and team culture that supports a quality focused experience.
- Participate in planning a roadmap to completion for the gameplay systems for which you’re responsible
Requirements
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a professional design role
- Knowledge of competitive products and a variety gameplay genres, as well as a personal understanding of video game fun.
- Able to analyze and design fun and complex enemies, melee systems, and gameplay systems
- Basic knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., XML, Blueprint, or Lua) is required
- Skills and experience to quickly turn around feedback
- Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced team environment
Preferred Experience
- Expertise in action games or action RPGs preferred
- Shipped at least 1 AAA game title in a gameplay or combat design role
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a professional design role
