  • Truly understands camera fundamentals, how they affect gameplay, and can deliver an emotional impact
  • Strategically places cameras so that the scenes are impactful and purposeful, while still being highly interactive
  • Ensures that both camera function and cinematic presentation maintain high-quality gameplay
  • Will work on custom level cameras and cinematic transitions to ensure a player's smooth and seamless journey through a rich and epic narrative experience
  • Can conceptualize, present, and execute ideas within a schedule, while actively participating in technical and design problem solving
  • Able to coordinate directly with representatives of multiple departments to solve design challenges, create exceptional narrative storytelling, remove production bottlenecks and clearly communicate design needs
  • Evaluates and initiates processes, tools, and camera features pertaining to title/franchise specific camera design

  • Our lead player designer to learn about the direction for gameplay and solve for how to best present gameplay to the player
  • Highly technical designers who can help with and train on the technical implementation
  • System designers to ensure coordination between gameplay systems and their on-screen representation
  • Game directors and managers who care about your success and growth potential

In order be considered for this role, you must be...

  • Highly skilled at placing cameras/shooting interactive scenes and a deep understanding of cinematography concepts and their application to games
  • Able to show us a portfolio or clips of your work that showcases gameplay camera design (focus here is gameplay and cinematics, not just cinematics)
  • Experienced with commercial and/or proprietary game engines
  • Used to working in at least one core animation tool (ideally Maya) so that there is an understanding of how to animate a camera in it
  • Familiar working with a highly collaborative cross-department game development team

The following are bonus, but it will certainly catch our eye if you have...

  • Shipped a 3 rd person action-adventure title
  • Professional experience in Unreal Engine
  • Prior experience animating cameras in Maya

The pay range for this role includes the annual base salary, not including bonus and the generous benefits package that Crystal Dynamics provides all full-time employees. Individual compensation is determined by work location within our approved states, as well as additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education. Your recruiter will be able to share more information about total compensation.

Pay Range

$70,000 — $126,000 USD
