Gameplay Animation Software Engineer (All Levels)
As an Animation Software Engineer, you have experience in bringing Hollywood-level production values in real-time to a game project. You’re on top of the trends for industry-leading, next-generation features related to animation, content creation, and human simulation that will bring the player experience to the next level. You have a strong desire to advance the quality of high-fidelity characters.
This is a great opportunity for an individual who is excited by the prospect of working on complex problems as part of a small team. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys autonomy, task ownership, and working with cross-functional teams.
This is a full-time, permanent position with our team.
What will you do?
- Developing systems that bring the character interaction and locomotion to the next level.
- Apply a deep understanding of Unreal Engine 4/5 animation and sequencer systems to meet the requirements of the game, extend the functionality, and suggest new approaches to current practices.
- Be a key part of researching and developing of features that aims at achieving realistic human animation through combining procedural animation, animation retargeting, motion matching, and IK for a variety of characters.
- Partner with stakeholders across multiple departments and be involved at any stage of asset production from specification to platform-specific challenges.
- Assist the AI and gameplay-focused team members to push the boundaries of seamless character interaction across contextual gameplay mechanics through in-game animated scenes, dialogue, gestures, and facial animation.
- Regularly debug, profile, optimize, and review applicable code across various features and systems.
- Guide and mentor less experienced engineers on your team.
Qualifications
- You have a degree in Software Engineering or equivalent.
- Multiple years of game development experience on multiple shipped games with a studio.
- Extensive experience programming in C++ and Unreal 4/5.
- Able to write clean and well-documented code that meets animation and design requirements.
- You have passion about animation with in-depth knowledge of several game systems, including animation and player control, in both tools/pipeline and runtime.
- Strong interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn and share knowledge
Nice To Have
- Experience across multiple areas of game development such as gameplay, audio, systems, tools, online or UI.
- Experience shipping on Console platforms (Xbox, Playstation, or Switch)
- Experience or interest in leading small engineering teams
