Game Writer

About the role:

As the Game Writer you will work on a game with a narrative focused on a female protagonist and featuring strong feminine themes, such as motherhood, bodily autonomy and romance, in addition to being a science-fantasy epic with heavy cyberpunk influences.
The Game Writer is a freelance position that will be part of Studio Fizbin - an award-winning independent games studio with offices in Berlin and Ludwigsburg.

Your profile:

We are looking for writing support with a feminine perspective to represent said perspective in an authentic and impactful manner. At the same time we need writing with affinity for science fiction and transhumanist themes, with a left leaning anarchist voice, as well as pompous fantasy storytelling. Not to mention relatable characters and flirtatious encounters.

You are able to bring those perspectives and voices to the project and are eager to join forces with our resident narrative designers to craft a unique fresh IP with fully realized characters, strong themes and deep worldbuilding and help craft a script with love, great character arcs, drama, betrayal and lighthearted moments.

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, it is essential that you have English language skills as a first language or the same level. You need to be able to write emotionally full and relatable protagonists and secondary characters, while at the same time diving into theatrical dialogue and spicing things up with over the top side characters. The ideal candidate for this position is a team player, able to communicate empathetically and adapt to game design and artists needs.

Further requirements:

• Minimum three years of industry experience in game development
• Strong ideation, brainstorming and documentation skills
• Able to plan and map scripts, narrative and worldbuilding to in-game progression systems, dialogue formats and inventory texts.
• Base understanding of anarchist philosophies and left leaning ideas
• Create snappy and concise dialogue, ready for voice actors
• Ready for tasteful spicy writing (aiming for a teen rating)

Bonus points:

We would love to see that you have a strong drive to write something that hits people hard. A strong affinity for the cyberpunk and high fantasy genres as well as punk and other anarchist music are also a big plus.
