Position Summary

Crystal Dynamics is seeking a Game Writer to create narrative content for our AAA console games. The Game Writer reports to the Lead Writer and works with other narrative professionals to craft the game’s story, bringing characters to life through dialogue, defining lore and history with concise documentation and prose, and developing the narrative elements that support larger story goals and themes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Collaborate across disciplines to develop stories with compelling, multi-faceted characters consistent with the project vision
• Conceive scenarios, quests, and objectives that are tied to larger story goals
• Write and edit character dialogue, enemy barks, objective text, lore, and other narrative content
• Partner with Design on the function and presentation of in-game narrative content
• Realize characters through concise, evocative dialogue
• Create and implement narrative content for interactive experiences
• Process and proactively react to feedback from multiple sources

Essential Requirements

• Professional writing experience with contribution to at least one shipped game title/release (or equivalent non-game professional writing experience)
• Highly organized and self-motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience working with game development tools

• Understanding of story structure and its impact on interactive narrative

Bonus Skills and Experience

• Understanding of standard screenwriting format

• Experience on a AAA game as a narrative designer/game writer
• College degree in screenwriting, creative writing, or equivalent
