All candidates will be working in the studio for the 1st 3 months.
Overview
As one of our Game QA Senior Compliance Testers, your primary responsibility will be providing all game titles with compliance testing, consultancy and testing support. You will ensure projects are developing with compliance in mind to meet the desired levels of quality during development prior to the games submission for certification. As part of the console compliance certification process, games are tested by console manufacturers to ensure every facet of the game (in-game text, instruction manuals, etc.) fully adheres to their strict requirements, standards, and naming conventions. You will act as a subject matter expert to mitigate risk and identify issues promptly.
Our global QA department tests various genres of games, learning and analysing all elements of the title’s functionality – including gameplay, UI, hardware interaction and messaging, checking title functionality against various manufacturer-specified guidelines, finding and reporting scenarios where these guidelines are not closely adhered to, and identifying and prioritising issues for progression through the project life cycle.
Our job is to ensure superior game quality, bug free games, make suggestions towards game design, ensuring a comprehensive end user experience and that there is a robust and comprehensive testing process is in place for all of our clients games.
Our global Game QA team perform functionality and compliance checks on a range of yet-to-be-released games for a variety of platforms including PC, Xbox One, PS5, Wii, PS Vita, DS, Switch, VR and various mobile and tablet devices. You would be working on top gaming titles for some of the world's leading AAA publishers.
What you’ll be doing
- Testing as per Compliance standards on any one of the platforms and assisting Game QA Compliance Leads to build plans and test strategies to deliver multiple compliance projects.
- Review and vet bugs and test cases from junior and senior GQA Testers including mentoring and coaching to ensure quality. This will include training when needed.
- Update checklists and compliance documents when requested by GQA Management and assist GQA Compliance Leads with Daily/weekly reporting.
- Producing other manual functionality reports, to ensure that they are correct against submitted game code.
- Checking title functionality against compliance test cases and - where required - performing focused sweeps, ensuring platform technical requirements are adhered to and raising issues where they are not.
- Thoroughly test all submissions to ensure compliance with the technical requirements for many platforms.
- Raising issues with test procedure and processes to Project Lead(s) and Project Coordinator(s), or Managers, offering solutions where applicable.
- Bug Testing to ensure all bugs are identified and thoroughly investigated, ensuring all bug information is accurately recorded.
- Checking existing bugs against newer versions of code and complete allocated work within given timeframes.
- Providing accurate progress updates, ensuring all relevant GQA procedures are followed.
- Understand and facilitate correct and relevant movement of information, including escalating serious issues and passing requests to leads for external communication / action.
- Stay abreast of communications and fix progression on important compliance issues on the assigned platform(s).
- Provide assistance and support on compliance issues for other assigned platforms as needed.
- Executes assigned tests accurately and sufficiently to have confidence in documented results.
- Reports results in a clear and concise manner into a bug database.
- Regresses assigned issues and validates that the issues have been addressed correctly.
- Escalates any issues preventing/impacting test execution.
- Provides feedback regarding test approach and test case improvement
- Keep up to date with all platforms and their requirements to ensure continued finding and reproducing of errors or problems in game.
- Any other tasks associated with GQA Compliance Testing.
Requirements
What we’re looking for
- All candidates need to be able to work from the studio for the 1st 3 months.
- Ideally 2 years of GQA experience.
- Ideally 1+ years as a Compliance Tester working on multiple platforms.
- Flexibility to adapt to changes in project requirements and instructions, and to work as per shift-timings applicable to project
- Strong knowledge and interpretation of compliance documentation and technical requirements, applying this accurately and consistently throughout all tasks and checks.
- Display excellent attention to detail, maintaining diligence and focus for extended periods - be methodical and analytical, displaying excellent problem identification and investigative skills
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication in English with the ability to cope under pressure.
- Be open and willing to adapt to change, for example: test team changes, process changes, documentation changes.
- Computer literate, with experience with various software, such as Microsoft Office Suite.
- The ability to achieve high standards and quality in work whilst having the ability to innovate and establish creative solutions as and when needed.
- Complete understanding of the native systems and features of one or more platforms.
- Self-motivation and a proactive attitude.
- The ability to absorb, retain and apply important technical knowledge with excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to multitask, including setting up and operation of multiple consoles / workstations.
- Able to work effectively, both individually and as part of a team.
- Good observation, alertness to knock-on scenarios and an ability to think "outside the box".
- Attention to detail and good communication skills.
- Computer literacy – particularly with Excel.
- Robust Internet research skills.
- Previous experience with using different software, applications, and websites.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely and collaborate within project teams.
- Be able to provide evidence of Right to Work in the country.
Studio Working Criteria:
- Candidates must live within 60 minutes of studio.
- Home working may be offered after an initial 3 month period within the studio.
