We are seeking a skilled Game Producer to help us further develop our narrative game engine and build out our stories with the top-level writing talent we have contracted. Your responsibilities as Game Producer include working closely with our senior staff to oversee production on these upcoming titles. The Game Producer is responsible for bringing the vision of our creative teams to life while contributing in important ways to player interactivity and narrative gameplay. Other responsibilities include planning, scheduling, facilitating communication, and identifying risk.

Ideal candidates will bring a proven record of success with diverse teams making ambitious games, ideally with a focus on narrative or cinematic development. The ideal candidate will bring an expert level understanding of narrative game development with experience in interactions, animation systems and cinematic games. The position is for full-time employment in and reports to our President and other stakeholders to be determined, and our consulting head of creative for special projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop modern narrative gameplay experiences by leveraging existing systems and creating new ones.
  • Help plan, design, and then fully implement narrative interactions and game scenes for upcoming titles in Xsolla’s interactive stories engine.
  • Work closely with our development teams to envision and implement strategies for game components, narrative system tools, and product deadlines.
  • Master proprietary Xsolla cinematic authoring technology, helping to build integrations for the next generation of narrative games.
  • Design, write and test efficient blueprints and design systems that control the game functionality and authoring tools.
  • Work in small focused groups, be an active participant in the design and production of the game; you are the technical side of the creative team!
  • Serve as a bridge between the PM of the external development team(s) and the elite creative teams writing and designing the stories.
  • Work closely with stakeholders and PM of the development team reviewing milestone plans, identifying and communicating deliverables and helping ensure adherence to publishing requirements.
  • Communicate current state, as well as medium and long term development plans to all stakeholders and team members, as well as assist in predicting issues and troubleshooting.
  • Act as liaison to any IP licensors with respect to requirements, approvals and other partnership management.
  • Contribute to the overall development and refinement of our production process and our stories to increase efficiency, quality, and player experience.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of the game budgets.
  • Partner with Project Manager, who will communicate with programming, QA and release teams.
  • Travel may be required.

Essential Skills:

  • 5 or more years experience as a game producer, game designer, technical designer, or gameplay programmer.
  • Must have 3 or more years experience working with an interactive game engine and consider themselves 'advanced' in all aspects of interactive stories gameplay capabilities.
  • Strong creative and narrative skills, with experience working in narrative or interactive fiction and the ability to help writers/creators understand the interactive medium.
  • Proven experience building key components of a modern interactive stories game, ideally with focus on storytelling and creating exciting stories through the use of cinematics, animation, and player interactions.
  • Ability to communicate with designers, programmers, and artists at the same time, creating compelling and highly efficient game systems.
  • Thrive on creating highly direct and operational systems that shine in their functionality more than their elegance.
  • Self-motivated and diligent, with established habits for tracking one's own tasks and seeking out answers when needed.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Experience creating a schedule and monitoring the progress of all departmental milestones and individual tasks, including use of JIRA, Google Suite and other management tools. Ability to track and organize work in Confluence/Jira and write and distribute weekly updates to all teams.
  • Receptive to the iterative nature of new interactive stories engine design with a willingness to participate in many areas of the game development
