Game Economy Designer

As a Game Economist at Red Games Co., you will be an expert at developing reward systems, continuations, and player interactions in mobile, web, and console games. You will apply economic and business concepts while utilizing your technical abilities to analyze usage data and enhance the game design. The economy systems you build and manage will be core to game progression, reward payouts, overall game economy balance, and player enjoyment.

The ideal Game Economist will implement methods and strategies to optimize the player experience for all Red Games Co. titles.

Responsibilities:

• Own the in-game economy and closely collaborate with Product Leads and Analysts to devise the strategy for the game’s economy. You will be the point of contact and expert on the game economy, including features, live operations, and pricing.
• Identify and understand the behaviors of our players through research, analysis, and experimentation.
• Firm understanding of behavioral economics and the ability to pinpoint strategies to improve the UX and popularity of games.
• Ability to analyze figures, reports, and usage statistics to draw insights and conclusions from in-game behavior.
• Work as the point of contact and expert on the game economy, maximizing engagement and monetization opportunities.
• Create flexible systems and data structures to allow for rapid iteration.
• Inform and iterate on game economy design by building economic models to accurately forecast revenue and player behaviors.
• You will utilize methodologies of economics, behavioral psychology, and business intelligence to design and maintain a healthy free-to-play mobile game economy strategically.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of game design or product management experience with 2+ years of focus on economy design
• Advanced understanding of Excel, SQL and/or Python
• Proficient in data-related activities, such as data mining and analytics
• Experience in statistics and mathematical modeling
• Able to work in a team and collaborate with different development role players
• Provide thought leadership and expertise on game economy, providing data-driven recommendations on design, balance tuning, features, live operations, and pricing
• Define economy KPIs to monitor, predict, and validate the impact of features on game balance and player behavior at a macro and micro level
• Collaborate with game designers on features, economy, and pricing logic to maximize retention, revenue, and overall profitability
