Game Director

As a Game Director at Cryptic, you'll be front and center in defining the direction of our next great game. You’ll own the vision and product strategy across the development team as we seek to create Cryptic’s next hit. You'll work with all disciplines to create an environment where our product is the best it can be. You’ll use industry best practices and your years of experience to help engineer an experience players will enjoy for years to come.
We have adopted a flexible work policy that allows options for onsite work in our Los Gatos, CA studio or fully remotely from anywhere throughout the US. Come and join us!
**What you’ll be doing:**
* Identify market opportunities, create a product pitch, and help get the product greenlit
* Partnering with the Executive Producer, maintain and evolve the product vision for the game
* Develop and maintain clear frameworks and rituals for quality measurement, feedback resolution, and game iteration
* Responsible for the full player experience
* Direct all aspects of game development, from design to UX to art
* Ensure key game pillars and features enable the strategic vision of the game
* Work closely with the Executive Producer and Studio Management to align product strategy and game direction with the business
* Consistently champion the vision of the game, ensuring broad internal alignment on the game team and the studio at large.
* Participate as a member of the studio creative strategy group; offering expertise on where the studio should focus it’s player-facing efforts
* Ensure alignment of product goals to broader company objectives
* Build positive relationships across all teams at Cryptic
**What we’d like to see:**
* 10+ years of development experience within the games industry
* 5+ years of experience in a leadership role in an internal game development studio
* Has successfully shipped multiple products, generally achieving favorable standards of quality or business outcomes
* Experience getting a game concept greenlit and into production
* Experience working in a game design or product leadership role
* Leadership experience resolving conflict, and when needed offering difficult feedback with respect
* Strong understanding of game principles and/or metagame systems principles and can apply them effectively
* Experience building and leading cross-disciplinary teams responsible for games
