GAME DEVELOPMENT ENGINEERING INTERN

Greetings, students! We’re geared up here to offer another round of epic internship experiences in summer 2021. The internship program offers the opportunity to pause your studies for one summer and work side-by-side with Blizzard Entertainment employees in your area of interest, doing real work that oftentimes ends up in production. As such, we hold you to the same high standards as anybody else in the company.

QUEST OBJECTIVES

· Work with engineers on one of Blizzard Entertainment’s esteemed game development teams

· Partner closely with a mentor to design, implement, and debug code in C++, C#, Lua and other languages that will ultimately drive the next generation of Blizzard games

· Expand your skills and learn new technology

QUEST REQUIREMENTS

· Currently enrolled in a college or university

· Returning for at least one more semester or quarter following the Summer 2021 internship

· Able to work fulltime hours for 11 – 12 weeks at the Blizzard office indicated in this job posting between May 2021 – August 2021 or June 2021 – September 2021 (group dates depend on when you get out of school)

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

World of Warcraft: Blizzard Entertainment is seeking skilled and creative software engineers to join our team for an internship working on the future of World of Warcraft. The ideal applicant will understand the technical challenges of engineering on a title as massive as WoW. We are looking for interns who can work closely with engineers and designers to develop a shared vision and then see it through from concept to completion.

Unannounced Projects: Blizzard Entertainment is on the forefront of many new games and projects. Our engineering teams are looking for creative software engineers to help us craft the future of Blizzard games in both mobile and PC-oriented products. Join us as we embark on the projects that will define the next generation of games and get your hands on some of the newest game development technologies the industry has to offer.

Available Game Development Roles:

Gameplay Engineering: Partner with cross discipline teams developing gameplay, graphics, audio, and systems for our games. You will be working on either a live or future title, with a mentor, on a team making deliverables against deadlines. It may be the biggest challenge you have faced, but your strong technical skills, initiative, and commitment will get you through.

· Proficient in at least one programming language, preferably C++ or C# and Unreal

· Experience programming in at least one scripting language (Lua, Python, Perl, etc.)

· A strong desire to collaborate and innovate on game side code

· Hiring Team: World of Warcraft & Unannounced Projects

Tools Engineering: Help us to build the tools we use to create our games. Create user experiences for sophisticated, proprietary tools; and provide unique value to a small team of talented engineers. We help content creators be really creative, really fast.

· Proficient in at least one programming language, preferably C++ or C#

· A strong desire to meaningfully impact the way games are made

· Demonstrated game programming experience (personal or professional)

Automation Engineering: Automation speeds things up. Join the team that works to make our development cycles and tools more efficient for our developers.

· Working knowledge of C++ and/or C#

· Demonstrated game programming experience (personal or professional)

· Experience programming in at least one scripting language (Lua, Python, Perl, etc.)

· Hiring Team: World of Warcraft

Graphics Engineering: Help us build upon advancements in graphics technology to push the boundaries of what’s possible for future Blizzard games! This is an amazing opportunity to get exposure to the most advanced graphics tools Blizzard has to offer and for you to bring your innovative ideas into the fold.

· Proficient in at least one programming language, preferably C++

· Passion for computer graphics technology and game engine development

· Interest in programming for modern graphics backends (e.g DirectX 12, Vulkan, Metal)

· Hiring Team: Unannounced Projects

Mobile Engineering: Help us develop new features and systems for our upcoming mobile applications/games, coordinating across disciplines with designers, artists, and other engineers. Everyone on the team is empowered to influence the direction of the product, and the ideal candidate will have a passion for quality and player experience.

· Strong, proven programming skills (C#, .NET Core and Standard)

· Working knowledge of the Unity platform, performance analysis, and code optimization

· Experience with implementing game feature logic in a client/server environment

Server Engineering: Are you an engineer who has an absolute passion for gaming, programming, and finding simple elegant solutions to complex problems? Take this opportunity to help our server teams optimize our game services and servers for current and future Blizzard titles.
