Game Developer

coherence is a tech startup in the games industry, working on leveling the playing field for multiplayer games. We are making a network engine and platform that allows any developer to easily create anything from a simple multiplayer game to a large, cloud-based virtual world. Read more about coherence here.

Become part of our engineering team and help us democratize multiplayer game development.

As an internal game developer, you will be working on a variety of different projects. You will be the “first customer”, developing showcase games to inspire external developers, sample projects and helper scripts to support our users to realise their vision efficiently, and QA and test projects to ensure that we always deliver our product and tools to the highest possible quality standards.

You will be the first person to get your hands on new features and functionality and to play around with them to ensure a quality end-to-end experience for our customers. By developing and maintaining a suite of different projects, you will ensure a product quality throughout periods of new feature development, optimisation and stability improvements.

We are looking for experienced and passionate game developers to collaborate with our engineering teams as well as customers and partners to report on functionality, stability, and usability of coherence. Our ideal candidate values creativity, collaboration, attention to detail and a commitment to quality and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Be part of our internal game development team and generate impactful feedback to our product and engineering teams.
• Design and build showcase and example projects that promote and validate our technology, service and tools on our supported platforms.
• Develop, maintain and extend test projects, and support extension and elaboration of test cases and automated tests.
• Build engaging and inspirational content to get game developers passionate about coherence’s multiplayer technology and multiplayer in general.
• Help improve efficiency of development for our customers by creating tutorials, starter projects and helper scripts.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional development experience in the games industry using Unity.
• Experience developing games on PC and / or recent gen consoles.
• A portfolio of shipped games, ideally multi-player or connected experiences.
• Excellent coding skills, preferably in C# and/or C++.
• Problem-solving mindset, positive attitude and openness to feedback.
• Passion for multiplayer games and their potential.

Bonus points

• Experience with network and multiplayer programming.
• Experience with GitHub and continuous integration environments.
• Enthusiasm for open source.
