Job Overview

We are looking for a successful Game Designer who will be responsible for Mid-Core and Casual live games, interacting with various teams at PopReach and bringing to the discussion table your industry, market and target audience understanding.

As the game designer your primary role is to ensure intuitive player experience (UX) flow whether it be through UI or game mechanic. Ensure minimalistic design for best impact.

You will design systems that are easily maintainable, expandable and comfortable to use which are intuitive and also injects fun into the user experience at the same time.

When working on existing assets, as a game designer you are expected to deconstruct, understand and bring in changes through new features or modify existing ones, with positive impact on the user experience and game economy.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work alone or within a larger team overseen by a lead designer
  • Lead on the user experience (UX) design of the game, ensuring players have the best experience
  • Work with Data Analysts to analyze the performance of the game, identify benchmark metrics and areas for improvement to make data informed decisions
  • Conduct market research to understand what your target audience wants
  • Transform a rough idea into a detailed concept and then scope it
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Producers to identify improvements to existing gameplay loops as well as new feature, content, and event ideas
  • Write design briefs and feature specification documents
  • Drive the design, tuning and balancing of the features designed and approved
  • Coordinate with Producers, Engineering, and QA to ensure that features and content are developed according to design
  • Provide artists guidance, reference images, and UX mock-ups to reduce art iteration time
  • Make adjustments to the game design specifications to reflect developments as the project moves forward
  • Train quality assurance (QA) testers to play the game so they can test it properly

Qualifications

  • Passion for mobile games (especially many variants of strategy games)
  • 2+ year’s experience with UX & designing of published/live games (especially strategy games)
  • At least, worked on 2 F2P games (preferably mid-core)
  • Thorough understanding of mid-core games’ commercial appeal
  • Experience with free-to-play game design concepts and principles in freemium games
  • Understanding of engagement and monetization KPIs
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Experience writing detailed UI mockups, design briefs, and product specification documents
  • Graduating in Game Design is a plus
