Game Designer
Trailmix is an award-winning studio based in the heart of London, backed by mobile giants Supercell. We are actively growing the talented team behind our debut game, Love & Pies, which is set to be the next free-to-play mobile hit.
About the role:
This is an amazing opportunity for a talented and experienced Game Designer to make a big impact on a rapidly growing and successful game with huge amounts of potential.
The ideal candidate will be able to hit the ground running and take creative ownership of new Game Features and Live Op Events designed to help make Love & Pies as successful as it can be. Working closely with the Lead Designer and the rest of the design team, the candidate should also be a great spokesperson for our audience — passionate about what casual games can give to people and able to design with them in mind.
This role has a lot of room to grow in, and would be highly suited to a game designer looking to start taking their next steps towards a lead position.
The Game Designer will also play a key part in achieving Trailmix’s mission: to foster a culture of trust, respect and creativity which allows us to make beautiful long lasting games that can be played by everyone.
Responsibilities:
- Designing effective live ops for a casual audience, not only within templates we’re setting but helping to create entirely new templates as well
- Designing features of all types, from proven “playbook” features to larger and more innovative improvements to our game
- Analysing and iterating on live ops / features once they are released, leading the charge on defining and executing on improvements
- Moving across further areas of the game as required, from player funnel investigations to economy balancing to refactoring existing elements of the game
- Having a positive impact on the design team as a whole, helping others to learn and grow
Requirements:
- Solid game design experience owning and producing features and events for live F2P mobile games
- A holistic approach: system design-minded while still appreciating the importance of narrative design
- A player-first mindset, demonstrating that you respect and can act as a champion for our audience, developing ideas with their needs in mind
- Able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the casual mobile market, with a finger on the pulse of the latest trends
- Ability to expertly analyse quantitative and qualitative data in order to inform your decision making
- A demonstrable ability to work independently to produce high quality work within strict timeframes
- Familiarity with and ability to implement best practices for a demanding content cadence
- Curiosity and initiative that leads to constantly improving processes and the game as a whole
- Experience leading and mentoring other designers
Location:
Trailmix is currently operating under a hybrid work model - we have 3 days a week (Monday, Thursday & Friday) in person at our brand new studio in Kings X with the remaining 2 days available to work from home.
Benefits:
- Flexible working
- Contributory Pension
- Tax advantaged Stock options
- Fully comprehensive Private Medical Care (premiums paid by Trailmix)
- 28 days Holiday (including 3 company holiday days around Christmas)
- Free drinks and snacks in the office
- Company gifts and swag
- Socials and events
Inclusive Culture:
Trailmix was founded to make a positive impact on our players, our community, and our colleagues. We are committed to creating an inclusive culture, and fostering an environment where people can flourish is our priority. We think it’s vital that players see themselves represented in games, and in Love & Pies we showcase the beautiful diversity of life. Love & Pies represents the people we are and the people we love, and we’re always looking to add more people who want to design games for everyone.
