Wicked Realms Games has an exciting opportunity for a Game Designer looking to join a creative and talented team dedicated to making beautiful beloved games that immerse and engage players for many years. Game Designers at Wicked Realm Games are self-motivated, collaborative team players who take pride in their work and know what it means to deliver fun, quality-focused games.
As a Game Designer, you will take your innovative ideas and turn them into fun gameplay mechanics and experiences. You will own your concept from inception to completion and work with multi-disciplined teams to ensure features are created and delivered to the highest quality. You will be someone who understands systems, economy, and free-to-play gameplay design to collaborate with the leadership team on expanding our portfolio of mobile games. This is a full-time salaried position with the ability to work remotely.
This role is open to remote work as long as you can work EST hours and reside in one of the following states by your start date: NY, NJ, CT, RI, MA, ME, CA, WA, AZ & FL.
Your Future at Tilting Point
- Design and develop ideas for content, gameplay and progression systems based on direction from Product/Design Leadership
- Prototype design ideas in the Unity Engine or any tool of preference and rapidly iterate on them based on feedback from internal stakeholders, playtests, and data collection
- Partner with multi-disciplined teams including artists, engineers, and other leads to ensure features are created and delivered to the highest of quality
- Playtest and tune gameplay systems using a combination of custom built unity tools and spreadsheet data
- Collaborate with team members in research and development of new tools and design systems
- Develop and own a feature or major gameplay design from inception through release
Your Skills & XP
- 2 - 4 years of experience in gameplay design, game mechanics and game economies
- Ability to implement, prototype and tune gameplay using the Unity Engine or other equivalent game engine
- Strong and concise communicator of game concepts
- Ability to document gameplay experiences and game mechanics using visual mocks, clear instructions, data and references
- Capable of receiving valid feedback and adjusting design choices accordingly, but strong enough to back your own ideas and opinions
- An active player who has passion for making and playing games; curious and critically thinks about why games succeed and fail
- Understands how to design a Free To Play economy centered around the business model of the game
- Proactive in looking for opportunities to improve the studio's game portfolio and grow as a designer. Able to quickly develop and utilize new skills to take on growing challenges
- Proficiency with Google Docs, wikis (e.g. Confluence), Excel and/or Google Sheets and any illustration programs
- Familiar with the mobile gaming market/trends across multiple genres and top grossing games
- Experience championing design decisions to leadership and stakeholders
