About the Role
As a Game Designer for content on Victoria 3 you will be focused on designing engaging content for our Grand Strategy fans all around the world! Your work will have a direct and influential impact on the quality and feel of the game.
While all Game Designers at the Victoria 3 team work with designing and implementing features, mechanics and systems, for this role we are looking for someone with a special interest in narrative and content design.

An interest in Paradox Grand Strategy Games is a great advantage, though we are mainly open to applicants with a couple of years of games industry experience.
Responsibilities
- Designing and implementing short narratives as well as other types of content for various gameplay systems.
- Writing text for in-game content in (American) English that thematically fits within the game.
- Scripting game logic, game databases, and branching narratives using our in-house scripting language.
- Engaging in research on related topics to find inspiration for crafting entertaining content that creates memorable gaming experiences.
- Taking ownership of tasks and working independently to ensure quality and timely delivery in coordination with the other Game Designers.
- Defining audiovisual asset needs and communicating them to the producer and art and audio departments.
- Dedicate time to playing the game to be able to build a connection with real player experience and a better understanding of game mechanics.
Actively collaborating with the people around you is key to this role. It’s important that you aren’t afraid to raise issues, and that you continuously look for improvement and try to inspire your colleagues. Since we are a fast-paced company, curiosity and an ability to get into things quickly are two important abilities.
Required Qualifications
- Fluent in English with an excellent command of written American English.
- Experience with or interest in code-based scripting.
- Deep and genuine interest in strategy games; PDS games in particular.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience working with PDS games (for example modding).
- Professional experience in narrative design or game design.
Practical information
