Summary
Ubisoft Shanghai Studio is looking for an experienced Game Designer to join our Ops team and help our exciting AAA titles to adapt to Chinese market.
Mission
As a Game Designer (Ops), you will be involved in the cooperation with publishing company, to make sure our games follow the government regulation.
You will also be responsible for designing specific features or contents of AAA titles for China. You will cooperate with other studios to improve our games according to the feedback from our players. You should work closely with other designers, producers, engineers and artists during the production, launch and live operations of our games.
Duties:
- Continuously review our games and make sure they meet the Chinese market standards
- Improve the current design and coming up with solutions to fulfill the government requirements if necessary
- Balancing and adjusting gameplay experiences after the modification to ensure the game still keeps high quality and in the original direction
- Prototyping and designing gameplay and features for Chinese market
- Working with artists and programmers to facilitate development and iteration of features
- Respond to feedback, analytics, and test results in a constructive manner with logical and reasoned suggestions/solutions to improve on designs
- Create and maintain living documentation for all game aspects
- Research and remain current on industry trends including new game genres, design methods, game themes and mechanics
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Minimum 3-4 years of experience in design
- Familiar with production and operation of AAA title games
- Experience of designing systems to meet Chinese market
- Relevant experience of working on PC or Consoles titles released in China
- Ability to accept critique, willingness to listen, excellent critical sense
- Excellent communicator (spoken and written) and good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
Ideal Candidates Have:
- An understanding of current popular Consoles or PC games
- Experience of working on projects aiming for Chinese market
- Experience with various game editors
- Dream big, but understand the limitations and work within them
- An understanding of usability principles
- An understanding of the dynamics of online communities and social media
Knowledge
- Fluent English skills (spoken and written)
- Knowledge of different game genres
