Team
Voodoo's Gaming business unit is made up of hyper-casual, hybrid-casual, casual, mid-core and blockchain experts. Our 'Core' games team supports internal and external studios worldwide in creating, developing and launching new hit games, whilst our 'Live' games team focuses on delivering higher engagement on our existing and successful games.
Our studio, named Hyper Champs , is the first Voodoo studio in Romania. We are a small & dynamic team of 4 people, located in Bucharest. We’re looking for the missing piece of the puzzle: a talented game designer that will be able to create simple & sticky core gameplays with a suitable meta layer to drive long term retention & engagement. We focus on fast prototyping with the aim to find the next hybrid-casual big hit.
Role
- Great sense of what’s a fun & snackable gameplay experience for a mass audience
- Designing games from A to Z: core gameplay mechanics, FTUE, levels, environments, reward systems, economy, difficulty progression, balancing etc
- Builds on others’ ideas and creates consistent game designs starting from a core mechanic
- Create intuitive mobile games in a very fast-paced iterative process
- Creating a database of gameplay concepts that could be used in the future
- Working within a lightning-fast prototyping pipeline and improving workflows (building a better pipeline, creating reusable templates, creating procedural level designs etc)
This is a role with high ownership in an agile studio where working as a reliable teammate is a success factor. With this role, you will have a strong impact on the company by contributing daily to our brainstorming process and important decisions. Flesh out the details of a game's design, test out your ideas, and revise the game in response to data & player feedback. Unleash your creativity so we can entertain millions of players with fresh games.
Profile
- At least 2 to 3 years of experience as a mobile game designer / casual game designer
- Experience with Unity (min. 2 years)
- Experience in hypercasual game design is a plus
- A track record working on mobile games, having launched at least 2 games
- Experience with game prototyping (including participating in game jams)
- Solid knowledge about Game Design including game mechanics, level design, and UI/UX
- Experience with designing & balancing game systems (difficulty, reward, economy, etc) and funnel optimization
- Experienced with creating mock-ups and design documents
- Experienced in communicating with programmers and artists, leading them through the execution of your designs and giving feedback
- Creative problem-solving skills to address a diversity of game design issues every day, including but not limited to gameplay, level, interface, etc
- You enjoy playing mobile games
- Passionate about finding trends, gameplay, and game mechanics
- Good level of English (both writing and speaking)
- Great communication skills
- Versatile, can adapt quickly, and move fast
