PeopleFun is seeking a Game Designer, Combat for an unannounced unit-based combat game on mobile. The ideal candidate has previous experience creating units, balancing unit vs unit combat, and extensive experience playing competitive mobile combat games.
Responsibilities:
- Design combat gameplay through analysis, prototyping, and development of individual unit stats and mechanics
- Provide focused feedback on the feel, balance and intuition of the moment-to-moment gameplay
- Collaborate with art and engineering departments to ensure units best communicate their mechanics and effect on the battlefield
- Maintain concise documentation and organized spreadsheets to enable fast iteration
- Ability to iterate through observation of others play experience
- Remain up-to-date on current trends in the industry, especially in mobile and competitive genres
Requirements:
- 3+ years in mobile games with a comprehensive understanding of Free-to-Play mechanics
- A strong passion for combat mechanics and balancing
- Mastery in utilizing spreadsheets to analyze and model combat systems
- Demonstrate strong logical reasoning and attention to detail
- Excellent Intradepartmental communication skills - ability to communicate abstract design concepts verbally and visually
- Positive attitude towards receiving and providing objective critique
- Bonus points: Developed and shipped 1 or more mobile combat games
