Game Design Manager, World of Tanks

Job Overview

We are World of Tanks production branch in Prague and we are searching for Design Manager to grow our strong design team. Being in that role you’ll be working directly on our beloved free-to-play PC game – World of Tanks.

Here in Prague, we have built a family-like production team of 100 people and keep that number flat. Among those people we have several gameplay cross-functional teams as well as one Art team being able to produce, test and deliver features of any size: meta, gameplay, tanks, styles, maps, hangars and so on.

From you we expect a knowledge and experience, open-minded gentle approach and a lot of patience. Challenges you’ll be facing:

• you’ll get a design team of all the domains needed for gameplay & meta production in our game: UX, Game Design, System Design/Analytics, Level Design. The guys will report to you
• your daily job is to make sure that our production feature teams are fully-fledged, staffed with proper design professionals, who are prepared for the ongoing tasks and long-term challenges. Here you have all the range of possible tools of direct manager: hiring, career paths, salaries etc.
• your guys will be doing the World of Tanks features in cross-functional teams together with PM/Producers, your task here is to pick the right people for the appropriate job, to support them daily, make sure they do their best, teach them and keep busy
• to take over the current design standards and improve them in order to improve overall gameplay production in Prague, make sure all the team members aligned on them and meet the requirements

• you’ll be in touch with global Design discipline on long-term strategy, pipelines and approaches. Your responsibility will be to adjust them to our local Prague needs, implement and integrate
• to build trust with production teams in Vilnius & Kyiv by producing a high-quality design solutions together with Prague designers, help your guys to get that trust too

People you’ll be working with closely:

• Development Director – on studio strategy and goals, roadmap planning

• World of Tanks Creative Director– on design vision and product-oriented decisions
• Producers/PMs – on daily features your guys will be working on
• Studio Heads – on developing in-house pipelines, coordinating strategy implementation and so on

We are looking for:

• 10+ years in gaming industry
• 5 or more years of experience of building design teams with various design domains
• to hire professionals and leads, nurture, grow them
• to define a design domain production standard, to maintain and improve pipelines, roles
• to hold a department budget, to plan and optimize it

• a very strong design professional with a broad experience in complex projects/features production, preferably in cross-functional features teams and in a leading roles
