Game Design Intern

As a Game Design Intern, you will design, tweak, and optimize the player experience. Your analytical skills, player insight, and creativity aid in crafting in- and out-of-game experiences that engage and surprise players. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and work with every tool at hand to innovate and iterate player-focused designs that'll delight millions around the world.

League of Legends is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) which was released in 2009 to worldwide acclaim. League has gone on to be the most-played PC game in the world and a key driver of the explosive growth of esports. As a designer, you may help create gameplay for new champions, or systems for Summoner’s Rift or alternative game modes.

Legends of Runeterra (LoR) is our new collectible card game (CCG) featuring beloved Champions from the League of Legends universe. On our team, we’re looking for Game Designers at multiple levels to design experiences!

Project L is Riot’s unreleased fighting game featuring iconic Champions from the League of Legends Universe. The team is looking for a Game Designer with a passion for the FGC to develop champions with our gameplay team and help tune mechanics like block stun, hit boxes, and knockback arcs.

Teamfight Tactics is a round-based strategy game that pits you against seven opponents in a free-for-all race to build a powerful team that fights on your behalf. Designers on TFT will help create systems or mechanics for unreleased sets.

VALORANT is Riot’s character-based tactical shooter. It features a heavy focus on competitive teamplay and is set in a new and expanding IP. As a Game Designer working on the VALORANT team, you may help develop and implement new Agents, features or modes for players across the globe.

Responsibilities:

• Design & develop new features and systems for products
• Create and provide multiple potential designs and solutions. Articulate trade-offs and risks between different options
• Work with other disciplines to build features that meet product goals

Required Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a college, university or non degree program
• Available to work full-time hours for 10-12 week at our Santa Monica or Redwood City office locations (subject to change based on COVID-19 restrictions)
• Authorized to work in the U.S.
• Experience working on projects with teammates

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience and passion for the respective product genre.
• Design experience in various game projects.
