Game Design Intern (Summer 2021)

The student will learn to modify content using a Unity-based editor and work closely with the design lead to ensure content is tied together. They will also be included in mechanics and feature brainstorms, design and spec new features, and experience first hand what live operations for a mega-successful mobile game is like. The student should be experienced in game design theory, well versed with current top-performing mobile games, and be able to easily speak to mechanics and features found in those games.

Internship Program Qualifications:

• Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate university program in the U.S (upcoming Juniors or Seniors) and able to intern remotely through late August 2021
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US during the Summer 2021 session. Visa sponsorship is not available for our internship positions.
• Be able to work on a part-time basis (up to 30 hours per week)

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Build game content for Disney Emoji Blitz using a Unity-based editor and other support software
• Follow guidelines set by the content lead (difficulty, mechanics used, IP usage, etc)
• Playtest content from self and team to ensure correct difficulty and fun
• Analyze features from other games and extrapolate key elements, pros, and cons
• Maintain knowledge of the mobile game industry, competitors, trends, and recent hits
• Participate in brainstorms for new game mechanics and features
• Write design specs for new mechanics and features

WHO YOU ARE:

• Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate college program in the U.S. (upcoming Juniors or Seniors
• Be able to work on a part-time basis (up to 30 hours per week)
• Student currently enrolled in a Game Design / Design program (Undergraduate or Graduate Program)
• Well versed in game mechanics used in other mobile games
• Experience designing game content that is both fun and properly tuned
• Strong team player with good people skills
• Experience with Unity
• Passion for games a must!

Jam City’s Summer 2021 Digital Internship Program will take place from June 14th - August 27, 2021 and will be entirely remote. Students can expect a paid, part-time (25-30 hours per week) internship working alongside Jam City’s business and studio development teams. Within internships, students gain valuable insights into our products, players, and industry.
