Our company’s mission is to entertain hundreds of millions of people for decades. Although we already entertain 50M+ players worldwide and have grown into a team of 170+ game industry professionals in less than three years, we’re only getting started. That’s where we hope you come in: to define and create stunning game art and design for one of the games we are building.

- Relocation: Relocating to Finland expected, full support provided

Responsibilities
Game Artist plays a key role in amazing our millions of players with outstanding artwork and engaging game art. In practice, this means (at least) the following:
- Building on the visual style, design, and overall look of our games to create visually stunning characters, assets, and environments
- Working on all phases of the art pipeline from concept to 2D to game asset in engine
- Being proactive and expressing game ideas to the team in an easy to understand way
- Getting a good grasp of our current and future projects, and helping ensure that the mark we leave is always top notch
- Respecting the story and understanding how visuals shape character personas, in-game ambience and unwritten cues of upcoming plot twists
- Working with programmers, community, and everyone else on a tightly knit game team
- Developing 2D art for mobile games as your trademark
Requirements
Every role is eventually shaped to match our unique passions, backgrounds and strengths. Here are some of the key skills and experience you should already have when joining Metacore as a Game Artist:
- Solid experience in game development projects and as a game artist, and having worked with and guided externals or outsourcers is a plus
- Knack for casual game art and a strong portfolio to prove it
- Understanding of game design principles to ensure the assets are readable and rewarding to our player in the mobile screen (and other formats)
- Flair for creating production grade work, outputting beautiful 2D art and assets
- Ability to create versatile game art in high volumes while following an iterative approach to perfect your work
- Comfortable with working by yourself and creating production ready art assets from concepts to the final renderings
- Proven background using 2D software like Photoshop, Illustrator and/or similar
- Knowledge of 3D art and familiarity with 3D softwares like Blender, Maya and/or 3DS Max
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with internal team and external partners, especially when providing feedback and guidance
In addition to these, it would be nice but not mandatory for you to have these as well:
- Familiarity with Unity and version control software such as Git
- Animation skills
