Game Art Intern (Summer 2021)

We are seeking a creative and talented student to join our Summer 2021 Internship Program as our Game Art Intern . Our Game Art Intern will be responsible for partnering with our team in developing high-quality artwork and production quality game assets to assist in the production of Disney Emoji Blitz . The ideal student would be familiar with creating artwork in a graphic style using Adobe Illustrator or other vector graphics programs.
To successfully execute the role, this student will help visualize characters, environments, and props that help communicate gameplay and bring our franchises to life. They will support the development team with art asset production as well as provide support materials for marketing.
This intern will be involved in all aspects of internal game development, from brainstorms and pre-production to content releases for live operations. You will partner with the Art Director/Lead to define the most appropriate tools, methods and approaches for each project. This student will also work directly with engineers to ensure artworks are accurately and consistently represented in game. The ideal student is a creative, talented, and motivated individual eager to learn, contribute and grow their skills with an industry art team.

Internship Program Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate university program in the U.S (upcoming Juniors or Seniors) and able to intern remotely through late August 2021
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US during the Summer 2021 session. Visa sponsorship is not available for our internship positions.
- Be able to work on a part-time basis (up to 30 hours per week)
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Design various characters, environments, and props.
- Provide concepts and storyboards for in-development game mechanics and features.
- Build and create game assets up to the standards set by product style guides.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure consistency of art across multiple devices.
- Assist production with decks and presentations.
- Participate in visual critiques and brainstorms.
- Research industry standards and develop new techniques and workflows.
WHO YOU ARE:
- Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate college program in the U.S. (upcoming Juniors or Seniors)
- Be able to work on a part-time basis (up to 30 hours per week)
- Currently enrolled student pursuing a degree in Illustration, Animation or Entertainment Arts.
- Understanding of fundamental visual design principles.
- Attention to detail, and ability to solve creative problems.
- Familiarity with mobile gaming, ability to speak confidently about current games on the market.
- Adobe Illustrator skills required
- Excellent Adobe Photoshop skills.
- Portfolio of work required.
- Team player who understands the value of regular and effective communication.
- Passion for video games a must
About Jam City’s Internship Program:
Jam City’s Summer 2021 Digital Internship Program will take place from June 14th - August 27, 2021 and will be entirely remote. Students can expect a paid, part-time (25-30 hours per week) internship working alongside Jam City’s business and studio development teams. Within internships, students gain valuable insights into our products, players, and industry. Our program allows students to work on impactful projects, collaborate with industry professionals, and develop problem solving skills through real hands on experiences.
