Front-End Developer Trainee - Tools for Games

The Games Technology team encompasses a whole host of data and analytics expertise areas, including (but not limited to) machine learning, build and submission tools, and cloud infrastructure. Powered by Beacon, Rovio's in-house cloud services platform, the team supports tens of millions of players, capturing 4 billion events and over 1TB of data per day. All of this work results in services and tools that enable successful live operations and continuous optimization in Rovio’s games.
Are you eager to bring mobile games to life? If yes you may be the Front-End Developer Trainee we are now looking for to join us this summer!
You will help us provide the best possible tools to our game teams, so they can manage our games and provide world-class player experiences. You will join our team for the summer working with our senior developers and help to build web applications and related backend APIs using state of the art tools like Angular, creating services to enrich our player’s experience.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain efficient and reusable front-end systems
- Work closely with senior front-end developer, UX designers, product managers and servers engineers to implement versatile front-end solutions to challenging problems
- Participate in the design process, gathering requirements across groups including games, marketing, ads, user acquisition, customer support teams
- Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues
- Launch, iterate and make our products better for our users
Who we think will do great in this role has:
- Great working knowledge of modern Javascript/HTML/CSS and a modern front-end framework such as React or Angular
- Passion about games and want to learn to build tools for games developers
- Excellent team working skills
- Strong verbal and written English skills
We’d love if you have some of these:
- 1 year or more of professional software development experience
- Experience with Cloud platforms (AWS)
- Practical experience working in Agile software development teams using Scrum or Kanban
- Ideally some commercial front-end development work experience
- Experience with Typescript and Angular is an advantage but not required
- General knowledge of mobile game development

- First meeting: You will be invited to a technical interview with our Senior Developers. We'd like to understand your skills, also to know who you are and what motivates you. This is also an opportunity for you to learn more about Rovio and the specifics of the role.
- Final meeting: You will meet the team lead. Our aim is to get a clear overview of how you would fit with our working culture, your ambitions and where we can help you develop.
