Started by former Xbox game designer Elan Lee and The Oatmeal’s founder Matt Inman, Exploding Kittens and its family of games recreates game night for a humorous and fun person-to-person experience. Today, there are over a dozen games and expansions available for purchase: Exploding Kittens, Bears vs Babies, You’ve Got Crabs, Throw Throw Burrito, On a Scale of One to T-Rex, Poetry for Neanderthals A Game of Cat & Mouth, Tacocat Spelled Backwards, A Little Wordy, as well as mobile app games Kitty Letter and Exploding Kittens, one of the top 30 premium games on both iOS and Android.
At Exploding Kittens, the Marketing team is responsible for driving the strategy and execution of go-to-market plans and marketing & advertising campaigns for all product releases. The Creative Designer will work with members of the Marketing Team to execute the creative vision for brand assets across print, digital, and, advertisements, and packaging. A successful candidate will have a passion for data-driven design, develop design strategies, and build top-performing creatives in a fast-paced environment.
This is a freelance position, estimated contract length of 4 months, ~20 hours per week
HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE:
- Execute design assignments, project strategy, and tight timelines; understand elements of product and brand design, print, color, and typography
- Create a wide range of compelling and fresh graphics across multiple channels; develop, logos, infographics, promotional materials, social posts, and presentation templates
- Research current trends and design innovations and translate them into a stellar brand and product design
- Speak towards your design and reasoning behind it
- Drive concept development for audience profiles and segments; and story-tell through design and graphics
- Partner with cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders to align creative needs
- Bring a sense of humor that reflects the company brand
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

WHAT WE NEED:
- Based in the United States
- BA, BFA, 2 years at a Technical College in a design discipline or similar experience
- 2+ years of brand design experience in Consumer Products, Entertainment, Games, or related industries
- Sharp project management, problem-solving, organizational and analytical thinking skills
- Advanced skills working with Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign)
- Effective ideation, concepting, theming, and the ability to refine design work based on creative direction
- An exemplary conceptual thinker, with an ability to understand the user’s needs, motivations, and behaviors and translate them into compelling creatives
- The ability to receive, and act on constructive feedback from creative stakeholders
- Basic video editing and GFX much preferred
- Illustrative abilities a plus
