Financial Analyst - Games

As a Financial Analyst at Embark Studios, you will play a crucial role in supporting the success of our games with your financial analysis skills, specifically focusing on revenue recognition and providing accessible and actionable financial reports to support the game team in their mission to create player-centric experiences while meeting commercial KPIs.

Example of responsibilities

Revenue Recognition

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate recognition of game-related revenue in compliance with accounting standards.
• Analyze revenue streams and associated costs, identifying trends, anomalies, and potential areas for optimization.
• Develop and maintain revenue recognition policies and procedures in alignment with industry best practices.

Data Analysis and Insights

• Utilize SQL, BigQuery, and Python scripting to extract, transform, and analyze large datasets from various sources, including game-related transactions and user behavior.
• Create and maintain financial models, forecasts, and budgeting processes to facilitate informed decision-making.
• Prepare and present regular financial statements and reports

Collaboration and Communication

• Work closely with game development teams to understand the impact of in-game mechanics on revenue and user engagement.
• Collaborate with studio finance to ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Present complex financial information in a clear, accessible, and concise manner

We would love if you have

• Proven experience in financial analysis and revenue recognition, preferably in the gaming or technology industry.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with database querying, preferably using tools such as BigQuery.
• Solid understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, and revenue recognition standards
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate data into meaningful insights and recommendations.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines

Good to have

• Proficiency in Python scripting for data manipulation and analysis
• Experience with financial modeling
