The role @ Sumo
Sumo Group is expanding the Finance team to provide a fantastic level of support to the business as we continue to grow.
As our Finance Analyst you’ll have an extremely varied role. You will support the Finance Managers and Financial Controller in producing financial information, providing accurate and timely reports to the business, with robust financial controls and value add commercial analysis.
The role will require you to study for a professional finance qualification and/or level 7 apprenticeship (ACCA or CIMA) and funding and study support will be provided. We expect the successful candidate to gain experience across a number of different areas of finance over the course of their studies and to develop and progress through the team.
Within your new role you will:
- Produce timely and accurate month end results and reports, challenging the business to ensure the integrity of the P&L is maintained
- Take ownership of key cost areas of the P&L and provide insight and analysis to finance managers and business stakeholders, identifying and explaining variances to forecast
- Support the application of technical accounting concepts
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and controls
- Use various systems including Documation, Sage, Cognos Controller and TM1
- Support the Finance Managers, Group Financial Controller and Director of Finance in the budgeting and forecasting process, providing robust challenge to expenditure and helping to identify risks and opportunities.
- Process sales and purchase ledger transactions, applying Sumo policies and procedures
- Support the provision of information to external auditors and tax advisors
- Assist in the preparation of external reporting & compliance including interim and full year results, tax returns and statistical reporting
- Identify and implement financial controls to manage risks
- Continually review and improve finance processes
- Successfully complete exams and professional development objectives to achieve a professional finance qualification and/or level 7 apprenticeship
You will have the following experience and skills:
- Undergraduate degree at 2:1/ 1st or equivalent, preferably in a relevant subject (accounting/finance/business)
- Possible part qualified AAT, ACA, ACCA, CIMA
- Strong academic record
- Excellent Excel and analytical skills
- Ability to analyse data accurately and quickly
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to work quickly to tight timetables whilst maintaining the integrity of work produced
- Ability to recognise potential problems and identify proposed solutions
- Excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, in order to effectively engage a wide range of stakeholders
- Ability to network and build strong relationships
- Ability to prioritise to plan and manage multiple tasks
- Willingness to learn and progress
