WHAT WE NEED
We are looking for a 3D character modeler with extensive experience in facial sculpting and creation of FACS based facial expression libraries for both photo real and stylized characters.
This individual will sculpt expressions and utilize data from scans to create blendshapes, in-betweens and correctives in order to create believable expressions for game ready characters. This facial shape artist will work closely with Modelers, Riggers, animators and R&D to develop the look, expressiveness and pipeline for character facial expression libraries.
WHO WE THINK IS A GREAT FIT
Minimum Requirements:
- 5 years of experience working with characters for either games or film.
- A deep understanding of facial animation, facial sculpting and Facial action coding system.
- A technical understanding of blendshapes, including the concept of inbetweens and correctives.
- A keen eye for detail and thorough understanding of facial anatomy, character design and animation.
- An excellent understanding of Zbrush and Maya workflows and pipelines.
- Excellent technical trouble shooting skills and problem solving abilities.
- Strong understanding of rigging process and displacement map/normal map work flow.
- A good working knowledge of topology and good UV layouts for texturing.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills and experience working under tight deadlines with multiple priorities an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Team player and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Portfolio demonstrating traditional artistic skills including illustration, and sculptural abilities is a plus.
This role is onsite in our studio in Novato, 40 hours a week, temporary employment.
