Your Mission
This is a great opportunity to be part of a dynamic team working on some of the most iconic franchises in video games. This role contributes to the success of our goals by combining budget management with analysis to drive business decisions.
There are two parts to this role. The first part is to work with the central marketing teams to manage EMEA budgets of over $10m for marketing retainer fees (media, production, social agencies and PR agencies), and to contribute to the finance team managing a total marketing budget across all franchises of over $100m. You will maintain a tracker for the total spend, and will need to work closely with the functional marketing team heads and other members of the FP&A team to deliver reliable cost forecasts and reviews of actuals versus forecast.
The second part of the role is to be the EMEA Finance Lead on the Diablo franchise. You will support the EMEA Diablo team with the financial analysis and reporting that they require. This will involve working with the Business Insights team to produce weekly reporting tailored to the needs of the team, and to present this each week at the cross-functional meeting. You will track sales, reviewing results versus forecast, and identifying reasons for variances. You will support the Diablo team with requests for analysis, e.g. on questions of pricing or performance by territory. Helping the marketing teams to manage the Diablo marketing budget will be another important part of this role.
This role includes, but is not limited to, the following tasks/duties:
- For the Annual Operating Plan for 2023 (work beginning around November): work with the marketing teams to understand their requirements for retainer fees and relay this information to global finance so that it is reflected in the financial system.
- Review forecasts and Annual Operating plan revenue and cost figures loaded by the global team, and challenge them where appropriate. Update the EMEA team on the key features of these forecasts through quarterly presentations and other informal meetings.
- Prepare risks and opportunities versus forecast and identify early opportunities of underspend / reallocation of costs between teams.
- Enhance reporting and forecasting processes and reporting packs to improve accuracy, visibility, understanding and control over costs performance for the EMEA business.
- Manage retainer fee budgets, and the Diablo marketing budget, directly with the various marketing teams. Explain variances and drive forecast accuracy.
- Co-ordinate reviews of marketing spend through the year, making sure that costs are correctly reflected and that all teams have visibility of spend versus budget.
- Deliver Return On Investment analysis on our spends where possible, as well as recommendations on how to optimise our marketing spend.
- Lead and deliver finance process improvement projects. Specifically, this will include improving the quality and provision of cost information to functional teams across EMEA to give greater visibility and control over actual, forecasts and AOP.
- Meet regularly with the global finance team to keep updated about plans for the franchise.
- Month / Quarter end close - preparation and posting of accounting journals for missing retainer fee / Diablo costs and mass allocations of costs across products and territories.
- Work with the media team to manage receipt of media credits (Annual Volume Bonus and credits for unspent media) and address any ad-hoc requests
