Reporting to the Design Manager, y our knowledge of combat gameplay and systems will be invaluable as you work on new and exciting IP Development.

The Beamdog team is a remote forward, flexible work environment where you will be part of an agile mid-sized team. If you want to see your personal thumbprint reflected directly in a game, this is the role for you!

Duties:

  • Drive implementation of a fun, intuitive and flexible PVE combat system
  • Coordinate with the project director and design team to ensure consistency of execution for the project vision across its combat systems
  • Work with programmers, animators and fellow designers to develop and rapidly iterate on the game's core PVE combat
  • Write and maintain clear design documentation to be used outside the design department and work with the programming, animation, audio and effects teams on implementation
  • Oversee play sessions, studying players and adjust combat systems based on feedback

Core Skill Requirements:

  • 2+ years in studio professional experience in video game combat design working on a team of 10 or more
  • Experience developing 1st person and melee combat gameplay
  • Experience working with Unreal Engine 4 or later and Blueprint scripting
  • Able to communicate technical aspects of design with programming teams
  • Understanding of interdisciplinary dependencies and the ability to anticipate and proactively design around gameplay challenges
  • Understanding of CRPG systems
