Private Division is a developer-focused publisher that empowers studios to develop the games that they are passionate about creating, while providing the support that they need to make their titles critically and commercially successful on a global scale. As a new division of Take-Two Interactive Software, the label publishes Kerbal Space Program, has released Ancestors with Panache Digital Games and The Outer Worlds with Obsidian Entertainment, and will publish the upcoming title Disintegration with V1 Interactive along with other unannounced partnerships. Private Division is headquartered in New York City with offices in Seattle, Munich, and Las Vegas. We are growing our capabilities to allow us to continue bringing great games to players and are looking for a new member of our team near Seattle, WA.
The Executive Producer is responsible for the overall product management of a franchise or series of games, supporting other production staff and multiple 3rd party developers involved in all aspects of game development from concept through release. This role will be capable of taking charge of multiple, highly-complex development projects, accountable for shipping products on-time and to standards of the highest quality.
The Executive Producer will be supported by an internal Publishing team and act as a liaison between the development personnel and the internal and external services Private Division will use to help bring these games to market.
Job Responsibilities
- Cultivate the overall vision for the IP, working with developers to help define their approach and recruit and enable new development personnel to expand the franchise in new ways.
- Oversee any live operations and services and define the plan and processes for continued operation.
- Understand the needs of the product and the teams working on them to ensure that their needs are met through internal Private Division resources or 3rd party, external vendors.
- Oversee, manage and liaise with internal and external vendors to meet production schedules and maintain a coherent creative vision throughout the entire development life cycle.
- Support development teams during each phase of development and drive the final phases of production with release management and QA.
- Develop product budgets and schedules and maintain budget forecasts, anticipating, identifying and resolving overruns.
- Travel, both domestic and international, is required.
- Play a key role in new business development for expanding the IP, to include using your network to help identify and close deals with potential partners.
- Potential to directly manage and mentor production or development staff.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A deep desire to learn and contribute to the expansion of a wonderful and compelling IP.
- Strong and effective communication with multiple teams is required, including: developers, business development, marketing, PR, creative, QA, Exec and more.
- 10+ years of experience in internal or external game development.
- Have shipped at least 2 PC/console titles and game services in a lead position or other significant role.
- A demonstrated understanding of the games industry and marketplace, both in the AAA and independent spheres.
- A deep love and understanding of games and what it takes to make them and the inherent chaos of development.
- Experience with production processes and methodologies including Agile, SCRUM and waterfall.
- Experience with team management in a development environment as well as staff and budget planning.
- Able to win and maintain the respect from outside development teams through thoughtful input, strong work ethic and perseverance.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and/or other relevant project management toolsets.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and communicate with all product development disciplines.
- Experience building and managing relationships with vendors and other external resources.
- Expected to identify and then take ownership of any responsibilities that lie within the scope of projects that are not currently assigned.
