Striking Distance Studios continues to grow. We are looking for talented developers with experience working on large-scale, live service games to join us in our San Ramon studio.
What we need:
You will manage a product development team of producers, game content managers, and associate producers. Maintain overall planning and budgetary responsibilities for one of our new game teams. You’ll be collaborating with team leaders, management, and our external partners daily ensuring our projects progress to successful completion.
Requirements:
Leadership
- Provide exceptional leadership to the team, inspire and motivate the team through personal example, enthusiasm, and dedication
- Establish a resilient, capable team which embraces accountability, seeks opportunities to maximize their potential, and takes pride in their accomplishments
- Develop an effective partnership with the Live Development Director
- Establish trust and credibility with studio leadership
- Form close working relationships with discipline directors, provide regular coaching and mentoring
- Develop effective working relationships with supporting partner organizations such as Legal, Marketing, Publishing, and Licensor
Production
- Drive execution from concept to live, accountable for meeting milestone commitments and quality targets
- Establish and manage the product roadmap which maps major feature deliverables to milestones
- Serve as chief product owner for the live product: maintain the product backlog, ensure work is defined and prioritized, approve completed work
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to define content/tech/feature requirements and desired player experience
- Support the Chief Development Officer in establishing quality targets, setting product vision, and achieving stakeholder alignment
- Partner with Product Managers and Data Analysts to respond to changing player needs and market trends
- Manage live services, including play tests during development
- Identify, assign, and track production and organizational issues to completion
- Keep the team informed on development results, schedule, and changes
- Ensure the team is trained on the necessary skills, processes, and best practices
- Solve problems, balance priorities, and find creative solutions to achieve results
- Seek knowledge and apply it to improve the organization
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of production experience in Live Services Gaming
- 5+ years in a team leadership role, strong people management skills
- Superior understanding of the multi-player gaming market and business models, solid understanding of how to run a business
- Expertise using production tools and multimedia software applications
- Excellent conceptual and technical writing skills
- Sound decision-making based on both data analysis and judgement
- Strong negotiation, change management, and conflict resolution skills
- High degree of initiative, takes opportunities to make improvements
