About the Position

As the Esports Competition Manager you will build and operate esports tournaments as a key member of the Twitch Rivals team. You will serve as the primary stakeholders regarding day-to-day and event execution of competitive gaming and content related back end practices such as rule-set design, player operations, administrative disputes, competition design, and concepting.

Responsibilities

• Develop competition strategies based on Twitch Rivals program goals
• Incorporate Twitch creator feedback to enhance and improve the product offering to Twitch Rivals competitors
• Align, guide and shape our competition operations, assisting with all facets of planning, including rules, dispute resolution, scheduling, player pay processes, and implementation
• Work with team members and outside vendors to design and put into daily action: league/content format design and day-of execution, rules creation in tandem with our legal department, pre-event coordination and information dissemination to players, results tracking both internal and external, and post event payments and process development in tandem with our finance/payments departments
• Draft and finalize legal tournament rule sets
• Monitor and finalize scoring/prizing results from tournaments
• You will work with your team members to develop and update best practices for repeatable processes
• Coordinate multiple planning elements of Twitch Rivals events with internal and external parties
• Understand and dissect unique aspects of games and their communities to create compelling competition events

Requirements

• 3-5+ years of experience related to esports league or content operations. This includes roles in esports oriented events which involved the development/enforcement of formats, rules, and payment processes for players
• A creative spark and passion for approaching competition in a way which will raise standards of quality for our viewers, both live and online. Our team is one which has a chance to reinvent esports on a day to day basis.
• Training on existing project management and communication tools, and the desire to make sure that what you’re using is the best tool for the job.
• Clear understanding & the ability to self-generate the steps necessary to successfully execute a project
• Ability to rapidly understand newly launched games or game modes and determine novelty to the community
• Experience dealing with VIP/Celebrity talent
• Act as a liaison for Twitch esports events to internal and external stakeholders, program partners, and third-party vendors
• A strong acumen in excel / google sheets for planning, scheduling along with strong ability to work with large data sets
• Exceptional ability to project manage, think backwards, and plan for results
• The forethought to thoughtfully escalate problem areas in advance. You aren’t afraid to ask for help early, and we won’t penalize you for raising concerns

• You have been to Con for the last 4 years in a row!
• You have seen a lot of esports
• A deep rolodex of contacts and endemic knowledge of how to use that rolodex to fill gaps. And as our workload scales, you know the best professionals in the industry to whom we can outsource this work as needed
• A network of esports and general gaming connections. Some of our best ideas come from our friends. We’d love for you to bring some to the party
• An active Twitch presence as a broadcaster, moderator, chatter, or lurker. We’re partial to folks who genuinely love our product
